These commercials aired on NBC on September 13th, 1978
1. Weaver Fried Chicken (The actress here is Edie McClurg from "Ferris Bueller's Day Off"! And "southern fried chicken in my blood" sounds like a very serious medical problem)
2. Dial-A-Joke (I had no knowledge of these joke lines before seeing this, but at the time they were pretty big...a precursor to the 976 numbers that plagued the 80's)
3. Duracell (The "Mallory" logo seen on the copper top was gone soon after this. P. R. Mallory and Co Inc, the company that made the Duracell brand, was bought by Dart Industries in 1978 and the company was renamed to just "Duracell")
4. Promo for "Please Stand By"
5. "The Wonderful World Of Disney" Commercial Bumper (I love this animation)
6. "NBC Salutes The 25th Anniversary Of The Wonderful World Of Disney" Commercial Bumper
7. Minute Maid Orange Juice (With Kathryn Crosby...then recent widow of Bing Crosby...and their children, Harry, Nathaniel and Mary)
8. Kentucky Fried Chicken
9. Hellmann's Mayonnaise
10. Kodak (For all of your sheepdog photography needs. The boy here is Ricky Schroder)
11. Mercury Zephyr Z-7
12. Step Saver (Mmm, just smell that ammonia!)
13. Jell-O
14. Grape Nuts (With Will Rogers, Jr)
15. "NBC Salutes The 25th Anniversary Of The Wonderful World Of Disney" Commercial Bumper
16. Promo for "Grandpa Goes To Washington" (More like Grandpa Joe goes to Washington...and steals fizzy lifting drinks!)
17. Arthritis Pain Formula (The graphic of the skeleton hand reminds me of a map depicting major battles of the Civil War)
18. European American Bank (Well, which one is it?!?)
19. Beatlemania! (It's strange to think that less than 10 years after they broke up there was a tacit nostalgia for The Beatles...explored even in parody with "The Rutles" around this time. It's a shame they couldn't reunite and perhaps divert the tragic course of events that followed in 1980)
20. NewsCenter4 Promo
21. Promo for "Dumbo" ("Dumbo" is actually too short to show in a two hour block with commercials...I wonder if this was the same package they showed in the 80's and 90's that also included "Mickey and the Beanstalk"?)
22. Lee
23. Purina High Protein Dog Meal (Witchcraft!)
24. Gallery Of Homes Realtors
25. Doritos
26. Council On Family Health PSA

Edie McClurg!!! One of my favorite character actresses of all time. Ferris Bueller’s Day Off, Planes Trains & Automobiles, and so many more. To me she’ll always be Lucille Tarlek from WKRP.

I love how primitive 70s-technology looks compared to now. But that's why I like it because kids would be outside playing more often and not being in-front of they're phone texting and I know not what.

Thank you so much for posting this. I grew up watching NBC Channel 4 in NYC and this took me down memory lane.

She went from cooking chicken to working a rental car counter and renting Steve Martin a f*****g car, with four f*****g wheels and a seat.

The Beatlemania commercials aired incessantly on NYC TV around this time. There’s also one in a WCBS commercial break from July 1978 that’s on KZbin.

My parents took my two younger brothers to see it. Fun fact: when Wrestlemania came around, my mom asked is that like Beatlemania? 😂

Weaver Fried Chicken-tasted like a somewhat improved version of the fried chicken you'd get in a Swanson tv dinner IMO Dial A Joke-actually called that a few times back then..didnt think any of the jokes were funny Please Stand By-must be one of those"day in the life of a tv studio" stories Minute Maid-little did they know that Mary would later move to Texas..and become a suspect in the shooting of a famous oil tycoon KFC-with the "Bad Seed"-type twins Hellmans-still make ham & cheese potato salad to this day Mercury Zephyr- it's Dale Arden(Melody Anderson)! before she met Flash Gordon Grandpa Goes To Washington-his response shouldve been"..now that's a dumb question.."

I was thinking the same thing. I watched that show religiously back then, and I don't remember it being on NBC. It still surfaces as an occasional special on ABC; I wish they'd bring it back as a regular series.

Disney first started out on ABC in 1954 for the original "Disneyland" anthology series but moved to NBC in 1961 because they were the first network to broadcast in color. Disney programs stayed on NBC until 1981...20 years.

0:59--I vaguely remember when Duracell batteries had "Mallory" as part of their branding. Likewise, the "Eveready" brand was dropped from Energizer batteries. 1:35--I didn't realize Suzanne Somers ("Chrissy" on the early seasons of Three's Company) co-hosted the Wonderful World of Disney 25th anniversary special!

2:58--LOL! I always liked that jingle "Bring out the Hellman's, and bring out the best." I know it's branded as Best Foods in the West, and I always wondered if they said "Bring out the Best Foods, and bring out the best" in that part of the country!

Yes, the jingle on the west coast is "Bring out the best". IMO the Hellmann's jingle seems like a complete afterthought.

Re: Dumbo: NBC padded out its showing that particular night with highlights from other Disney animated films, such as Snow White and Pinocchio, and hosting segments by Ron Howard and Suzanne Somers.

Gotta dig through tapes for comparison, but my parents recorded an airing of Dumbo off Norfolk's then-FOX (MyNetwork now) station WTVZ around August 1994. Going just off memory, that version was just a 90 minute block (either that or my parents stopped recording after the movie and didn't tape whatever might have filled the remaining half-hour out)

It was probably the package produced for syndication that also included Mickey And The Beanstalk and another short cartoon after the movie.
