Thank you for making your videos. I just inherited my fathers eBay inventory, he passed away exactly 18 years to the day that he began selling on eBay, and I wasn't sure what I'm going to do with it all. I rented a 26" long U-Haul and it was completely filled. Watching your very helpful videos is taking away my fears and I hope to be selling soon on eBay.

Such a great tip to "think outside of the box" when it comes to sourcing. We attend a lot of estate sales which is where we buy the majority of our items. I can't tell you how many amazing things I've found in the corner of a garage covered in dust. Some of our best sellers were found taking the time to run some comps on things I never would have thought would sell. Recently found a vintage boxing match timer/bell that so many people passed by. I bought it for $2 and it sold for around $100. Patience pays!

Bread and butter items vary from person to person. I was glad to sell 20-40 $ price range, then I looked at a buddy of mine's listings, some low 70's$ prices but most between 150-400$ price range. $4000 a month is still good for doing something that you like. But it does not compare to $15 -20 thousand-dollar months my buddy has. The stuff is out there, I'm stepping up my treasure hunting game!

Hi Peter! Great video of the bread and butter items you are selling and getting great money for! I looked at the same items here in Canada at thrift stores and re-store it stores too and the prices are very high and not worth it to ship from Canada, but I can tell you that the vintage porcelain, glass and collectibles do really well too. Usually less than 4 lbs. Men's shirts and ladies clothing does really well for us and the return rate is 3% per year. Also we do a mix of drop shipping from our suppliers directly to our customers and all of our sales are in the USA! Thanks for sharing your knowledge and am always learning and trying new items to sell. 4 Head VCR's, VCR/DVD Combos, 3 Head Cassette decks, Pioneer 8 Track players, and vintage turntables are always good sellers if you in then for the right price. I never have any problem selling them. I also do very well with Chrome Type II Blank cassettes. If they are N.O.S. and still sealed. I get between $5 to $10 each for them depending on brand, and vintage. I pay between .25 cents to $1.00 each for them. Other odd but great sellers are Reel to Reel tapes, and 8 Tracks that are in good condition. Have a great New Year Pete.
@tootall55595 жыл бұрын
I still sell VCRs and DVD players, but you're right they have to be good brands and 4 or 6 head. Tape decks, not so much, but now and then. There is one problem with some VCRs. there is a part inside that floats on one screw and a spring. If it gets knocked out of place during shipping, it will not take a tape. Easy fix, but your buyer won't be happy. SOME CB radios sell well. Oddly the 23 channel type will sell better than the 40's Some brands bring ridiculous money.

For real, I gotta look into that. I am a picky about how I ship items.
@zacharywissinger39965 жыл бұрын
I sell lots (300+ in the past 2 years) of VCRs and specialy ordered boxes for them. I got 18x14x6 boxes ($0.98) to fit most VCRs, 20x14x8 ($1.23) for combos. Just use 24” bubblewrap pref 12” and use 3 connecting sheet 2’x3’ total 1/4 bubbles. I double the ends over in the back to protect the input/output terminals and fold the sizes like a present. Boxes sizes leave 1-2” in every direction (top bottom front back and sides) for packaging peanuts. None break in shipping after using this method. But for DVD Dubbing Combos I use slightly larger 22x16x10 ($1.45) mostly because they sell $125-$250 so worth the extra couple inches. Ps. If you wrap the cord the size of your hand there is room in the back to pack the remote and av cables can be wrapped with power cord, these size boxes don’t have room for tapes though.

A packaging supply company. They usually have the best prices because they broker from manufacturer to businesses. The one I use is Garnell Packaging, they are a local family owned one. You will have to search for your closest one. BUT... we all learn from watching each other and there's ALWAYS something else to learn about. I watched the video till the end, but KZbin is making it hard NOT to pay to skip ads since NOW, I'm finding 5 minute ads with no "skip" allowed. You have often stated that we should not sell too cheap items, because the time is too much. Here is a question about the cost in USA: I am in Germany. If I sell in here in Germany, I have the following costs: - Time to find an item (online) - Purchasing, Paying, - control, evaluation, reclamation ... - Processing time: condition control, cleaning, repairing, photographing, photo editing, measurements ... - Set on ebay: find sales value, find SEO text, measurements, weight, what time, other details ... - Correspondence with potential customer - Sale: check incoming money, - Shipping: secure packaging - Parcels to the post office: time for travel - eBay commission sales price - ebay commission shipping - Paypal commission 1.9% - change fees 2,5% - VAT sales price 19% - income tax - Environmental costs for shipping material - ebay rating, control - Administration: Ebay, Bank, Tax Office, - Costs for employees, shop rent, electricity etc. After this calculation remains about 20% as a real profit. What percentage of the selling price on ebay remains as a real profit - for you in USA?

Everything in the video is pretty much the same stuff I would buy as well. Along with vintage video games and toys. The phones always sell. I sell a lot of stuff to studios that are making movies and television series. A Series Of Unfortunate Events bought a bunch of my vintage phones, dictator machines and other vintage goodies. Easy money. When you are thinking of buying and selling you have to think as a buyer and not a seller. You have to stop saying "I would never buy that" and start thinking "That is really cool, If I collected that I would buy it". People fail in selling because they fall down the rabbit hole of only thinking what they are interested it. That is a guaranteed fail.

Can you show how you pack these VHS players for shipping? I live in Maryland, and work a full time job at bike shop. As a side hustle, I got into buying and reselling stuff from thrift stores since April of 2018. In just that short period, I have noticed flocks and flocks of people who pick the hell out of my thrift spots. It seems to get harder and harder to find anything of value anymore. I mean, shelves are picked clean, practically. I admit... I have walked by many of the things you point out in this video, so you have re-kindled my hopes. I also see plenty of people walking past these same things, as well. I have found some electronics in the past that sells pretty well, and fast.. Old tape transcribers (especially the Panasonic ones), and old portable CD players and mini-cassette recorders... The newer and fresher they are, the faster and more money you get. It's crazy. Literally, overnight, they sell for $100 or more - and I only paid a few bucks on them. My local Salvation Army has boat loads of VHS and tape decks, printers and receivers. Looks like I need to do more homework!

Hello from South Louisiana here ✌️ New Subscriber I think I will enjoy learning more from you. I've been an eBay member since 2004 but all these years I never really focused on using it for Sales until recently. So I hope to build up and thanks.
