Here in the UK I use 'Bearing fix' it's similar to loctite,but is a permanent fix. It's used when the outer shell of a bearing spins when it should be fixed.(motocross wheel bearings) Maybe better than disfiguring with a hammer and screwdriver ???

I've had some success in lowering tiller gears slop by shimming them more tight one against the other. If I remember correctly, I got that trick from you some years back. Anyway, you are definitely inching your way to perfection on this engine and as always, it is those last few tweaks that are the most challenging. Finally, it all may be perception but hammering that ring with a brass hammer seems to work better than with a steel one. Regards !

Glad that worked out. The loose pin was likely a symptom of the excess friction on the brass ring and slop on the gear arm. I would have smacked the pin on my vice to tighten it up not having any spares. Sorry but have to chuckle about the cold temps since my brother is down there thinking he has escaped the cold here in Canada. Take care...always enjoy your helpful and entertaining videos...stay tight my friend!

Was it not possible to tighten the old pin at the pivot by peening it against a sold object?
@THISOLDOUTBOARD1
@THISOLDOUTBOARD1 10 күн бұрын
Hey. I thought about it- but the actual hole the pin goes through was worn and elongated- so it not only wobbled it also slid back n forth. If I didn't have a spare I would've tried that or ordered another one- Luckily I had a spare! Thanks again !

Most of the time you can apply down pressure on the plate and usually see if it's rubbing by the shine on the brass it makes.... I've also seen the hold down screws just dragging on the slides just a hair....

Hey. Thanks for tuning in. No I don't know anybody- Best bet would be to call around to your local marinas and ask them. They should know. Thanks again !

Oh yea, TOO has got it dialed in now. Maybe you can run a couple of tanks through it and get those cylinder grooves/rings broke in. Them crappie are calling your name…. Begging to be caught 😂😂
