Ah-ha! A Tri-fold antrenching tool! Sharpened, in case. Took me awhile, but i finally thought of something he omitted. Probably didn't want the extra weight. But it is included in the U.S. Military fighting load, and with good reason. It can be everything from a latrine-maker, to a hammer, a hatchet, a paddle, even a personal defence tool. Don't bugout without one! o.~

A thoughtful presentation. My current 72 hour setup seems unreasonably heavy so I'm tempted to try adding an extra butt pack or some pouches to my webbing to see whether or not that might provide a more practical alternative. This gives me lots of ideas.

Nice setup! I think the only thing I would add is perhaps a compact Bivy sack, or a lightweight hammock or even a small tent. You could even put a secong tarp on there. Point is this...even for 3 days(72 hrs) you'll want a portable shelter. Yes you have the poncho but you could attach another item as I mentioned before to the bottom. Just a thought. Again, nice work on that kit!!

Forgive me if I missed it, I didn't notice a tourniquet or rather any significant way to stop hemorrhaging. There are some light weight and compact resolutions to that, check out the RAT(Rapid Application Tourniquet) which can be easily applied single handedly. Tourniquets are the single most effective life preserver in hostile or combat like environments, or even if you simply cut yourself badly. Other than that I think your kit covers mostly all other basics of survival and evasion. Good luck!

Nice series. Can't add much more than what was commented on except one aspect. More water capability and remember, when you decide to use separate containers or preformed, one has a tendency to find non essential items to fill the container. Think hard as to what can be reduced or eliminated all together.

once again great kit. wanted to suggest using a headlamp instead of a maglight for being hands free and a wider variety of intensities. being waterproof up to 1 meter. for $35 you can get a high/low headlamp that will burn over 100hrs on 3 AAA batteries. great video.

Two essential qualities of the "Compact Survival Kit" ... *MINE* is a waterproof dry box, with a caribiner lanyad AND It fits in a cargo pocket ... even in the hip pocket of jeans. It is VERY important to keep the whole kit dry and that it is VERY portable.

I really like this vid, and I have watched it multiple times. However, I wish you would list the brands and where you bought or procured your gear as others have mentioned. That would be a big help. But your set up is well thought out and inspires me. Analytical Survival on KZbin also has a great LBE set up and a well detailed video. Thanks.

NIce set up man.. If there was one thing I miss from the military its the LBE. One suggestion though.. your ammo should be on the opposite side of your firearm. It makes it easier for faster reloads.. (If needed)

Definitely. If I thought I was going to be out for more than 24 hours, the additional water in the bladder system will be most welcomed. Thanks for watching!

I would add a folding ammo dump pouch. This gives you a pouch that is easy to place on your belt and to put empty magazines or other items found on the “trail”.

great video, I also have a similar system, I have mine geared equally as an urban combat battle belt and urban survival system. I think it's a great piece of equipment to have in case of a situation where you have to " bug-in" but might need to hit the streets for supplies ie. water, food, help someone, anything where you would need to leave the safety of your home but want to be prepared for anything. Hope people will do the same and be prepared. thanks for sharing

Not a bad setup. The only thing I would change is the Suspenders. I perfer the H suspenders instead of the Y type. It distrubits the load better for me. YMMV.
@Lord_RavnFar_Tannerwise
@Lord_RavnFar_Tannerwise 6 жыл бұрын
Plus with the H suspenders you can take an extra buttpack remove the A.l.i.c.e clips and once your suspenders are adjusted un clip them from the belt and loop the straps through the alice clip slots on the back of the butt pack slide it up and either clip the buttpacks D rings to the rear gear clips or if its an H set that doesnt have the rear gear clips you can tie it off with 550 cord to the holes in the strap adjusters for a small ruck! Athough after the fact id also add a vietnam jungle style med kit to the straps below that at the small of the back.

Watched your vid series again ! Im all about the gear , this is the same type of load out that I use and have used it for years , and wouldnt change it for the world !! If I my , I would like to make one suggestion , use black zip ties to back up the metal alice keepers they can fail !! Get the wide ones though , you will have to cut them down once installed ,but its worth not losing a piece of gear that could save your life !! Just trying to be helpfull !!OUT!!

dont want to take anything away from this vid. very well done and very informative. but i want to know more about your shelter provisions. all i really saw was the tarp and the space blanket. i dont know what the climate is like in your area but for the sake of argument lets say its getting down toward freezing. will the contents of your pack be enough or would you plan on building debris shelters in that situation?

I would recommend getting a larger canteen holder like the Marine corp coyote brown one that I have it wont match and it is a molle pouch but I can hold both my canteen and canteen cup so I can both boil my water and the canteen cup helps with keeping our water cold

Good kit, if it were me I'd find room for a small container of foot powder, good to have for long hikes. Also a non-lethal defensive option like bear spray & some heavy duty long zip ties to use as handcuffs

I'll second the headlamp, than get a fenix light and some glowsticks. I'd have a pouch specificly for med supplies, than fire starting, than electronic gear( iPod,GPS, phone) my buttpack is a condor high space one so I have more comfort space. My weapon of choice would be the glock 31 because it's a multiple role weapon(deer,bear,people) and 17 rds of 357sig isn't something to doubt.

Cons in order. You might want to think about a sleeping system that is a little bit better then just your poncho. A sleeping bag with a pad for example. It would add to your weight. But that more comfortable sleep really helps. A filter water purification. Like a sawyer squeeze. The time and resources you can save would be grand. Bring salt. Like enough to put in a salt shaker. Maybe a hand saw tool of some sort. I think you might have the saw. You just did not show it. Pros in order I think you thought of most of the stuff I would put in a 72 hour bag. I wondered about your food options but when I saw what was in the black pack. I thought ya no worries. The 1 quart is fine on water. I believe that because you are setting this up for in your area. So you plan on being around water. Fishing is good enough. If you want go for snares. But at the same time if you spend all day fishing you just lost 1 day in your 72 hour pack. Fish are active once, if your lucky twice, a day. So fishing helps but the added time needed to catch some fish. Would make it a gamble. So if you went in a situation where you are going to fish all day. It might be more ideal to also trap as well. That would increase your odds of catching some food if you spend all day. Do not go for the .22 lr firearm. It might be wiser to learn about wild edibles instead. My reason for that is that small game, hides. So you might see them. But odds are you won't. Closing statement I know you put a lot of thought into the video. It shows and it is a good set up. It makes me wonder. If you have already learned about. The things I talked about above. I hope what I have said, helps.

He scarcely missed a trick! i personally, value a multitool over any other blade for wilderness/urban survival/preparedness, but that's me. i also would've just gotten it in in one video. But PackRat is the ONLY other prepper i've ever seen that shares my endorcement of energy/shots. my G.O.O.D. bag has several. It may seem frivolous, but in a real SHTF situation, you'll need every edge you can get. Especially when quickly de-assing the area is a priority.
