The water heater is cleaned every 48 hours by law. Most water heaters do that automatically. The cleaning cycle is simply heating the water up over 70C. For cold water pipes they are keeped clean with one of two systems. Either by keeping the water cold. If they are unable to keep the water cold, a small amount of chlorine is added to the water and also a type of salt (don´t ask me what type, i'm not a chemistry engineer). Its generally so little that its safe to drink. But sometimes they need to increase the dose, then they usually send a letter or a text or something to the people effected and tell them to not drink the tap water for a few days. In some tropical countries the level is generally keeped at a unsafe level at all times, that is one of the reasons you are not suppose to drink the water in some countries. So there is actually people, probobly in your city that have full time work doing only that.
@matsv2012 жыл бұрын
@@gingercat7925 In dry areas that is actually not that unusall. The water is first used for cleaning, then it keeped in a tank for flushing. In some really dry area its used a 3:rd time for watering. @Author B.L. Alley "In what country, and who comes in every other day to clean" Nobody, its a automatic system. Its just a simple relay that just override the normal thermostat for a few minutes. its a really simple circuit. Its mandatory for single unit water heaters at least in the EU. (or rather, is mandatory for heaters that have a econ setting that have a to low temperature to be legal). If you buy a really cheap shitty version it will simply just not go under a certain temperature, hence not needing that function. My system don´t have that function, because its a custom built system. But its a indirect heater and don't have standing water, and there for really don't need cleaning. Anyway, its heated to 80C regularly just as an effect of how the system works

As a firefighter, I can say that wearing long sleeves/pants is generally a good idea - if they're made of the correct fabric. Wearing any garments of a highly flammable or low melting point polyester or similar synthetic materials is going to create far more serious injuries and problems than just a regular burn. However, wearing long garments made of cotton, other natural fibers, or fire resistant fabrics like Nomex would provide a much higher level of protection than bare skin.

Her advise to wear clothing isn't good advice. Many plane crashes involve burning Kerosene. You'll have injuries when it burns your skin but you'll have the chance to escape it. If you wear clothes, they'll only make sure that you'll continue to burn even if you're out of the flames. There was a famous plane crash where all passengers survived the landing, only to be burned by the subsequent Kerosene. The first responders had this to say: They were screaming in agony because the soaked clothes continued to burn and it's almost possible to remove the clothes once they burn. Even if you land in the water, what will the clothes do for you? They'll drag you down. Scratch wounds will be the least of your concerns.
@dynagaming2693 Жыл бұрын
@@matfax This. People don't understand how long fuel can stay saturated in clothing. I've had both gasoline and kerosene on work clothes before where I've had the misfortune of igniting. A soaked sleeve in kerosene will continue to burn for about 15 minutes unless you find a way of putting out the fire. Easiest method is to get that shirt off.
@LednacekZ Жыл бұрын
@@matfax her advise to wear clothing is correct. First of all, if you dont wear clothing, you wont be allowed to board the plane. If you take off your clothes during the flight you will be told to get dressed right away. If you are splashed by a possible flammable liquid it is better for it to be on clothes than direct skin. As for your water landing theory. You either deplane on a safe raft like in the miracle on Hudson, or you are in a crash, injured probably unconscious from the impact and dozens or hundreds of miles from land. You are going to drown anyway. How long do you think you can survive in water? swimming in open sea is very hard and hypothermia takes care of you much faster than you would like to think.

The "crap" tanks get drained and flushed out by the blue juice after every flight and taken to what we called the "shiterator" if I remember the spelling was actually a tritcherator (sp).

The ods of surviving an emergancy landning is around 99%. If the plane dont lose controll instantly it proboly will land just fine. If we look at aircrasses with large number of death Even aircrafts that run out of fuel over the ocean typically most People survie. Also since inert gas have been introduced, fuel tank expotion on crash have pretty much been elimiated. Lets check the last seasons of air disaster just to se. Loganair 6780, 2014: Pilot lossed controll, retain controll just a few hundred meter over the surface. Airplane landed safely, everyone survived. Execuflight 1526, 2015: Controll flight into building. Everyone died. The passanger was pretty much dead before they even notice something happened. Comair 5191, 2006: To low speed on takeoff. The plane lifted on the wrong side of the evelop and pretty much stalled into the ground merely seconds after it lifted. 1 survivor, 49 dead. Passenger would have less than 15 second warning if they even understood what happened. Lion Air 610: 2018, this is one of those 737 max accidents. This is a really scary one.189 fatalities. From the problem was obvious until the plane crash would have been about 30 seconds. But there wouldn´t have been any emergancy call from the pilot. Southwest Airlines 1380: 2018. Window failed, person was sucked half way throw the window and was stuck. One dead passenger. plane landed with minor problems. US-Bangla Flight 211. 1991: Possible pilot suicide. 20 survivors, 51 fatalities. It would have been unclear how obvious it was for the passengers. The airliner crashed very close to the airport. Ansett New Zealand 703, 1995: Plane crashed into hill on approach. 4 dead, 17 survivors. The plane crashed suddenly on aprotch with no warning what so ever. Propair 420, 1998, 11 dead, no survivors. Engine cough fire in air, airplane crashed just shy of the airport. UPS Airlines 1354, 2013, aircraft suddenly nose over, with no warning what so ever. reach the ground with in 30 seconds. No obvious warning of imminent crash. Plane reach the ground at 900km/h vertical. The engines was found 7 meters down into the ground. 2 dead, 0 survivors. So of the full season there was two that got ample warning, and say 2 more that got breef warning and there was massive death told. Generally all aircraft with early and clear warning, landed safely.

Well, regarding wearing long sleeve shirt and long pants, if all you care about is fire, don't wear clothing made with polyester material. These will melt when close to fire and cause more severe burn. Btw, if you're really that close to fire when there is fire on a airplane, you're probably dead. So feel free to ignore this. :)
@jahbern2 жыл бұрын
Oh man. I just watched a video about a plane that crashed and broke into two. The fuel in the wings caught fire and half the passengers were behind the flames. They all ran through the flames and jumped out - ALL of the passengers escaped, but some did die afterwards because of the burns. They were so badly burned when they started rolling to put out the flames - but they were rolling right in the spilled jet fuel. Good lord, it was a tragedy. It really does make you realize how serious fire on a plane is - and that your clothing *probably* doesn’t really make much of a difference if you are that close to the flames, like you said. You usually can’t just walk away, you know?

Honestly: If an emergency is happening and the screams of the people, the alarm over the PA system, and the stern messages of the flight crew repeating instructions didn't wake you up, I bet that the person sitting next to you probably will. "We are going to make an emergency water landing, should I wake this guy up or should I leave them resting? They looked quite tired". Anyway, there are two scenarios then: (a) not that important of an emergency or (b) you wouldn't have been able to do anything anyway.

I’m aware that if things go wrong the chances of survival are virtually nil, but I refuse to survive any potential emergency landing or ditching into the water and die to my own stupidity. @gnarthdarkanen74642 жыл бұрын
For whatever it's worth, I'll go with the "regular street clothes" like I wear about everywhere else, and top the ensemble off with a leather jacket, coat, or duster... Being a motorcycle rider, I have plenty of full grain leather, and it DOES protect better than most of the synthetic gear... EVEN against fire. Do I dress for the crash? Not for an aircraft. It's just what I'm comfortable traveling in... BUT there's at least a chance of more than a crash making your flight REAL interesting, and there's more to making use of a leather outer garment than using it protectively while dodging fire and shrapnel... From smothering out the fizzle of small gadgets "going to hell in a handbasket" to flogging someone down to their knees and even unconscious when they apparently need it... A hefty leather outer can be a fine protective clothing of choice... ;o)

I think you misinterpreted the last guy a little bit. He was trying to explain why airlines can't use parachutes for their passengers. He started by asking the rhetorical question "why don't airlines give parachutes to people in the case of emergency?" and then gave his reasons for why that would not work. He messed up on the open-door/cabin-depressurization thing, but everything else seemed like a pretty good reason why airlines couldn't trust passengers with parachutes.
@FortuitousOwl2 жыл бұрын
Nah Kelsey was pretty spot on, seemed like the guy was making stuff up that he thought of lol
@titaniumlegs2 жыл бұрын
He said "Why are no commercial planes allowed to carry parachutes?" He's wrong. They are allowed to carry parachutes. Passengers are permitted to bring parachutes as checked or carry on. My friends and I have done it many times. This isn't an "in case of emergency" thing - it's because a modern sport parachute system costs upwards of $6000, and we don't want the baggage handlers abusing or losing it since the airlines won't insure it.

Kelsey, you got a real good laugh from me with the smiling part. Everyone knew there was a laugh there and you totally went for it, saying you'd punch them. You didn't hold back. Thanks for that and cheers XD

Love the parachute dude, but I have to be honest: 1. If I saw other passengers with parachutes I'd either alert someone or take another flight. Probably both. 2. If a flight attendant handed me a parachute mid-flight I'd be more concerned than calmed 3. Do any airlines offer the D.B. Cooper Experience? Cuz that'd be awesome enough I'd pay a premium!

11:08 I'm surprised Kelsey didn't comment on how (obviously) filming an emergency evacuation from an aircraft is a bad idea, because unless you have a body-cam or similar set-up, it's going to be a distraction. Putting your cell phone in your shirt pocket is risky too as it's somewhat likely to fall out and become a tripping hazard.

Number 3: So i got told that you should stay awake because an obvious crashing as the plane shakes and breaks apart wont wake you up, smile as everyone is in panic and you are surrounded by destruction, and just remember to film this epic crash, so you can go viral on tik tok!

Natural fibers, not Spandex, polyester, or vinyl; they’ll burn and stick to your skin. My longest fight was LAX to Sydney, was 15 hours. Sleep, if the flight is that long, most of the time you’ll be over the ocean, anyways and you’ll be at 39k feet, roughly. They’ll probably wake you or the screaming people will.
@Stettafire2 жыл бұрын
Ja, as someone who works with textiles. Wool is the best because it's self-extinguishing. Cotton and linen burn like paper. Polyester, nylon and anything synthetic just melts as it burns.
@ChristinaR4042 жыл бұрын
Definitely this. While I'm never concerned about burning up in a plane fire, if I were, naturals all the way. I used to spin fire and my group had an unspoken rule of NEVER wearing polyester. Gets real icky with flame.

I saw an episode of Air Crash Investigation where a man was relatively unharmed compared to most of the other passengers because he had the presence of mind to put on his leather jacket before the plane crashed and burst into flames.

I hate how these "influencers" on all these platforms spread false information. I deal with the same thing in the firearms/training world. So many people will spread these tired, clichè bits of false information about firearms or training tactics. When I'm talking to someone and they start spewing that crap then I'll end the conversation there. I'm glad that you make these. I really enjoy your videos!

As a normal person not trained in such matters, I get most of my firearms info from 3 influencer channels that I hope are good enough: Skallagrim, Forgotten Weapons and TAO Fledermaus.
