750cc Cross Kart vs. 1000cc Mini Trophy Truck SHOWDOWN!

We put our custom build Honda 750cc Cross Kart against the BMW powered 1000cc Trophy Kart in a series of challenges at Busco Beach ATV park in preparation for Mini Mayhem 2021! We start the off road challenge off with a hill climb, then a trail ride, a circuit race, and finally a drag race to put the two biggest CarsandCameras custom builds up against each other.

I actually learn nothing from these guys but I still like to watch when they take doing stuff that's barely dangerous so serious its kinda comical, like the lap times they get so serious about ripping minibikes around the "grand pre"you can tell John and Ike didn't grow up riding. my friends would chastize me if I took the stuff they do as serious as they do but Not everyone's meant to be a daredevil they have fun that's all that matters you wanna see dudes making stuff and sending it grind hard plumbing those guys actually get pretty crazy both with how sweet they make stuff and how they ride them and hey don't act like they're about to do some ground breaking stunts ramping a small mound they're donut shots are top shelf Ethan can send .

@@crudboy12 not this shit, you're right. Race cars are more my thing. I'm building my 4th iteration now. But as someone who's dad wasn't around when I grew up and who doesn't have many friends I've taught myself to build race engines, to weld roll cages, to calculate spring rates and build components and setup a car. I'm by no means the best. My car runs in the middle of the pack. But the fact that I had to do EVERYTHING myself, and by myself (I.E. pull engines by myself) with very limited tools and on a 10th of the budget of the other cars (literally, my last car cost $7000) I understand natural progression of talent. Each time I revise the car I get better. These guys have been doing the same thing for 7 years. They are getting eclipsed by new channels with kids building awesome things. It's the reason these 2 karts actually happened. They are getting left behind so the had to step outside the comfort zone of old mini bikes and shifter karts and build something from scratch with more than 20hp to keep up.

I feel like the cross kart needs the gear shifter switched to the RHS. Seeing John use his right hand to change gears on the left is just uncomfortable. He's been doing it since the kart was completed lol.

The Trophy Kart is, without a doubt, the best performing, but the Cross Kart wins the beauty contest hands down. I know Ike needed more room, but I wish the Trophy Kart had the same shape as the Cross Kart. In any case, I love both builds. Great work guys!

With the trophy cart, the landings should be soft. May need to redesign to meet the objective. They're both amazing builds though. Congrats.

Agree completely. Needs some motocross/dirt bike style shocks with some adjustability on compression and rebound (just like GHPC long travel oddessey). That 12in of travel should be fully capable in these conditions. But travel doesn’t mean everything without adjustability in terms of the actual shock itself. Increasing the high speed compression slightly and faster rebound on a realitivly soft spring rate would be the god tier combo. “Your rear axle is bouncing like crazy” proves my point exactly. Solid units non the less. Been watching y’all forever and would love to see y’all on a completely insane level in the future! Cheers

I would put 1"-2" longer shocks on the Cross Kart, with the initial 1" of travel softer and progressive spring and damping rate.

The cross kart needs revised. It as you pointed out needs more ride height and suspension travel. Maybe just larger diameter tires? I think that can be accomplished without losing the scope of it being a "cross kart". But those are the critical things it needs and either it's worth a 2.0 revision OR a whole nother cross kart build. I myself, Like the trophy cart better.

Guy's to be honest my favourite cart is the crosscart !!!! It's got this look which I can only describe as " stormtrooperish " I really love it's lines, I had a great laugh just after Isaac warned that it's really bumpy!!! John hits the road ... 😂🤣😁 Oh ...oue ... Owe...oue ...Owe..LOL .. 😂... On a serious note .. Both of these carts are just fantastic!! That BMW purrrrrrs like a kitten, and if I had to choose one of the two" I couldn't " . Every single cart you have built I'm terribly envious of.. I find myself wishing I lived close to you people.. but unfortunately I'm thousands of miles away.. any way ... . Cars and cameras is my go to channel when I feel down or disheartened by my life's down moments... I agree with Issac's idea of building a 750cc for the crosscart. With all your " powers combined!!" I believe fully that you all could build a real strong "slightly" modified 750cc. I can't wait for the next video guy's. You guys should look into suspension seats and a HANS devices especially hitting all those jumps . It will save your necks and backs . And the cross kart needs more travel and a engine swap with a water cooled engine. You all are awesome . I love your builds. Stay safe . Keep up the good work.

I really like the crosskart but considering the terrain you two always drive it on, larger wheels & tires in my subjective opinion can only be a good thing. The small tires really get to me. BUT it is your build.

Some nice shocks, a higher ride hight and longer suspension travel would massively improve the usability of the cross cart. I might even just start over with the suspension and use the front geometry from an old sport quad. And completely revamp the rear suspension to get rid of the stock miata lower arms. The axles have plenty of travel left in them and are cheap to replace if you do break them. Using atv/sprt quad stuff would also give more tire options for different terrain. Once all this is done. Go do a big Ole meet up with ghpc, I noticed the commented on an old video wanting to do a colab soon

Looks like you had a lot of fun your belts need repositioning to work better, just using them tightened up would be more comfortable. So the next build needs to be using the Honda Goldwing engine the 1500 should be ten a penny by now, and they are reliable and in a lightweight buggy would be fast off the line and top end.

You guys should really consider stopping using the plastic seats and using suspension bucket seats like the ones from PRP seats. They are a huge safety upgrade and will help when you're shocks max out
