Dear Dr. Abramson: Once, in an English seminar, I described early Spring as a "Delicious sandwich between cool and hot air." Now that I think of it, your lectures are even better: drinking a splash of unsweet iced tea siting in the shade of a tree with cicadas singing, on a sweltering day. NOTHING matters but your explanations and my easy, relaxing considerations of them -- aah. >>Thank you for this tour of Spain. Respectfully, NHG

Your messiah has come and his name is Jesus Christ. Although he may not have been what rabbinic consensus at the time expected, he had clearly fulfilled the messianic prophesies and continues to do so. Wash away the doctrinal poison of Egypt and Babylon, cleanse that precious blood you carry with the perquisite faith in Jesus Christ as Lord necessary for salvation. You carry the blood of my Abraham, the prophets and saints of old, the holy people of God! Mankind has fallen short of perfect adherence to the law of Moses, we have all sinned in the sight of God. Through the law, salvation isn't possible, we require the sacrifice that took place on the cross in order to be granted righteousness via the Supreme mercy of God. The grace of God coupled with our faith in his son is the only way to the father and into heaven, that is not to say we forsake the law or are devoid of good works.

The Barcelona debate came on the heels of the debate of Rabbeinu Yechiel of Paris which ended with the burning of the Talmud in Paris in 1244 a quarter of a century earlier. In a interesting turn of events R’ Yechiel of Paris moved from Paris with three hundred Rabbinic families to Akko where he or his talmmidim meet up with Ramban .

Not sure if you're looking at these commentaries, but if you are, I'd like to say thank you Dr. Abramson for these awesome videos. I'm a high school Jewish History teacher and I have to let you know that younger students (grade 7-8) are also able to connect to your style of teaching. Yasher Koach Chabibi!

among Brazilian jews, there's a well-known story about jews from that region coming to Recife, handle the sugar trade, before going to New Amsterdam/York. You know something about that, like the size of this group? (not looking for specific numbers)

R’ Issac Abuhab de fonseca came from Amsterdam to serve there as Rabbi , when the Portugese conquered the colony from the Dutch the Jews got little notice to get packing, the R”I Abuhav and most of the Jews returned to Europe, some families ( Like 8 ) took a ship up to the Dutch company in new Amsterdam , where the rabid anti-Semite Peter Stuyvesant didn’t want to let them disembark. But the very powerful Jewish Portugese community in Amsterdam, yielded very heavy influence in the Dutch indies company, also heavily invested used their influence to help those Jews, which were the first Jews in North American, eventually they built the Touro synagogue in Rhode Island.

Many Spanish kings and queens were very antisemitic.Maybe Columbus was a Jew, he was very friendly to the conversos with his family
@goalsnsuccess20863 жыл бұрын
He most likely was a converso or parents were. His goal in exploring had more to do with finding a home for jews out of europe. Also many prominent jews supported him financially. So yeah he is.
