@MrLewisbate In case you're being serious, the description says that this is a test flight - they're testing the limits of what the plane can achieve, which they do indeed want the best pilots for. There's no passengers onboard, so there's no reason to dress formally.

@MrLewisbate Those are test pilots. They test the plane, like they do for example before it gets officially put in the market for the first time. No reason to dress formally. On the back there are no passengers but only engineers and computers.

Matty, just like the B-737, the B-767 has what are called "Flight" spoilers and "Ground" spoilers. Through the Air/Ground Switch sensing, when in "flight mode" not all spoiler panels will fully extend, compared to a landing ("ground mode") when ALL panels will extend to full range. Generally, the "Ground" spoilers are the innermost ('inboard'), closest to the wing roots. They either modulate to lower travel limits in "flight", or don't operate at all, depending on airplane type.

Was that the sound in the 767-200 cockpit of Flight 11 and Flight 175 as they accelerated beyond speeds those jet could fly near sea level? I assume the 757 piloted by a guy who who could not pass his solo flight training tests or whatever hit the Pentagon, after carrying out a 270 degree corksrew dive (that no professional pilots could accomplish on a 767 simulator) or whatever hit the outer wall of the just completed missile hardened E - Ring; blowing an 18 foot diameter hole through all the ring walls, destroying both the O.N.I and The Pentagon Budget Analyst's Office, all their staff personnel and investigation evidence (just moved in, wet interior paint drying on the walls) of the 2.3 trillion in unaccounted for "defense" spending announced (a Masonic warning) by Rumsfeld in a speech given at the Pentagon on Sept. 10th, 2001. No 757 crash wreckage was found. No engines, seats, dead passengers, wings, nor black boxes. We should call for a forensic investigation, just as the Univ. of Alaska's Engineering Dept. and NYC Fire Commissioners have called for. ine.uaf.edu/media/92216/wtc7-structural-reevaluation_progress-report_2017-9-7.pdf kzbin.info/www/bejne/p36cdH2IeNF_hc0 *AND HERE'S ANOTHER RED PILL FOR YOU ALL.* Active Thermitic Material Found In The Dust Of The WTC Catastrophe. @87earth Rule of thumb: for every 1000ft altitude gain you get 2% speed for free due to the lesser density of the air. For example; when you have a speed of 250kts at FL350 on your airspeed indicator (IAS) you'r actual speed will be around 425kts (TAS). When you climb with a constant IAS of 250kts your mach speed will increase with altitude. So at low altitude (up to FL280) you are limited by a max IAS (340kts for the B737), at higher altitudes you'r limited by a max mach number (M.82 for B737)

@nighttrain334 Yes, 100% because the over-speed test is usually flown between 10000ft and 25000ft, the onset of a high speed mach buffer would not be an issue at those altitude. But you are right, if the aircraft were at altitude you need to be cautious when using full speed brakes.

@blacktroopsg6 It was probably a controlled test that they were running. I am sure that the pilots and technicians at Boeing know what they are doing! Besides, sometimes you just can't simply pull back on the yoke. Yes, you will bleed off airspeed, but if the 767 is fully loaded then you have to be careful about stressing the airframe in a pull up, high-G climbout and you may induce a secondary stall.

The speed brakes need to be extended full because at that speed they are restricted by the air flow. If you were to only extend them 1/4 they probably wouldn't extend at all because of the wind, so full extention doesn't mean they are up full while flying at over 300knts, that would be stupid.

@jamesxoxbond Boeing calls them "speed brakes", which is stupid because they are spoilers. The two terms describe the exact same flight control. In flight they are speed brakes (though they do really dump lift), on the ground with the gear struts compressed they deflect farther and have a more intense lift-dump function. You are right - except that Boeing calls them the wrong thing- "speed brakes"! :)

I am guessing this must have been some type of flight testing or training exercise? The jeans and the guys taking notes being clues, and it looked like the left seat pilot was anticipating the event. Funny, I don't get this type of overspeed alarm noise in the Boeings on FSX. Most other cockpit sounds they got right in FSX.

it was only temporary to get them out of overspeed. he reached back to the speed brakes towards the end of the vid... prolly put it back to where it was.

Is there a stall warning alarm on the 767? I don't think so. However I know there is a stick-shaker sound.
