I only fly Air India when I go to India .... the Milan - Delhi flight is a 787 ... the crew are always delightful but sadly some of the planes I have flown on need repairs on the interiors. To go to India without flying on Air India is a real shame because the airline experience on the way there prepares you for the wonders that await once you land in Mother India. Hopefully these new plane orders will make that experience even more magical.

40 A350s, 10 777Xs,20 787-9s coming into compliment its existing 27 777s and 27 787s (some of them will leave the fleet as the new aircraft come in). The oldest -8 in air india's fleet is just 11 years old and they have so much to offer for the airline still. A couple of 777s might say but it will still be sad to see them leave as after the 747, the 777 had taken the role of being the backbone of Air India and still serves the airliine with glory. I would like to see air India commnit to 20 more 777Xs and 10 more 787-9s. We also have aircraft coming in from Vistara. So we might be looking at a widebody capacity of around 90 airframes flying for Air India by the end of this decade.

Hi. AIr India will need a kot more than just new plane and new interior. They need new cabin and ground crew. Or at least a huge peranality change before they become a world leader. Thanks for another great review.

Their narrow bodies are under going refurbishment rn, where they are being equipped with 3 class configuration. And they are also installing inflight wifi based IFE as well. From early 2025, their widebodies are supposed to be retrofitted, VT-ANA will be the first widebody to undergo retrofitting.

@@kokofruitkokotree I had just flown on VT-ANA a week ago. Yes, it really needs to be retrofitted. This will really be a tough competitor for gulf carries after it fully gets refurbished.

Since Air India is also planning to make its own cargo airline, they should convert their inactive A319s to freighters. Also they can use one of the aging B777s as a freighter as well. Air India did have a cargo airline a decade ago, and they were operating with B737-200 Fs. Their cargo division also had A310 at some point.

Recently flied air india from Ho Chi Minh to Delhi flight cancelled second time in a week portly managed ground operations hotel was provided at 1:30 in night when the flight was already believed to be cancelled at 10:30 pm and that too had to walk to the hotel in the rain since only one bus was there which could carry 7 people it would have taken 2 hours if I stayed there was told there will be food in hotel for us there was none available since time of the check in to 1:30 in night was hungry since airport didn’t have vegetarian options airline refused to give refreshments air India is no where in comparison to world class airlines it’s pretty poor it’s just spending money on ads instead if of improving their service

Air India needs to stop using the A350-900 wide body jet on domestic services . . . & re-assign the A350-900 fleet to serving international long haul routes, afterall that's what the A350-900 is intended for . . . Air India should start operating it's B787-8 wide body jets on international long haul, like they used to prior to 2020 . . . its being said that India's full service carrier might operate a fleet of second hand refurbished (ex-Singapore Airlines airframes) A380-800 wide body quad jets . . .

When new planes join your fleet you have to use it for domestic routes to train your teams all on ground and in air team it’s mandatory rule before they go on international routes

From 1st September, they are going to use these A350s on London route, then from 1st November, they will be using A350s to JFK, and from 2nd January, they will be using A350s on EWR route.

The Greedy Tata will eventually remove the aero float seat configuration from the A350 reassigned to Air India during the pandemic. Pack in more cattle to achieve profitability is the only concern these pigs focus on.
