well tough shit not these shellac 78rpm records standard vinyl records lp 33rpm and 45 rpm are better than shellac 78 rpm records
@CPorter5 жыл бұрын
@@josephfrye7342 78s are actually pretty valuable. Plus with these you don't have the toxic communities around them like 33 and 45s do. At book value, all of those would have been worth $20 - $35

Its hard to tell on camera but they were all broken or cracked. I would never break any non broken 78's. I know there's ways but to "fix" broken 78's but it's never really going to be the same way it just better off throwing them way or if people want the broken ones and they want to fix well they can have them.
@sewell27777 жыл бұрын
The Gilson Station True, I thought I saw some that just had chips on their lead in groove but perhaps not. Have you ever tried making wood stain from broken shellac records? Just dissolve the broken pieces in some alcohol and it makes a great stain :) Also, regarding the Columbia records, I have an old advert for them somewhere. It was their new "lamination" process carried out through the 30s and 40s. It consisted of taking a fibrous disk and coating it in liquid shellac, after which when it had dried, the record would then be cut. Apparently it lightened the record and made for a better sound, others dispute that it was just to save money. All of my 1940s Frank Sinatra 78rpm albums seem to boast about it. Who knows what they were thinking!
@AL-Fritz7 жыл бұрын
I actually have seen a video of someone using 78s and making wood stain out of it. At least it's better than throwing them away and there putting them to good use. Columbia records made 78 there own way than everyone else in the late 30's 40's and little bit of the 50's. On old 78 columbia sleeves they show the lamination.

I've had a few 78s with only a hairline crack. I threw those out as I'd never dare play them in fear they'd damage my needle
