In episode 4 of "The Season" I get together with some other signed players from the Rochester Lancers to get some extra work in on the training pitch to boost fitness and technical ability ahead of preseason. We then head over to the gym for a balance and core workout to improve performance on the pitch, using various exercises to increase stability of the muscles surrounding the joints, and strengthen the entire core. Incredible something I definitely enjoy watching. Would like to see you taking shots at a goalkeeper and your decision making process when one on one with the goalkeeper, like smash it bottom corner, try run round the goalkeeper or fake shot to make the goalkeeper commit to a side that sort of thing.

Props to you all for taking the initiative to train on your own outside of schedules practice sessions. I would rather hear a voiceover during the skill training describing the techniques you’re trying to sharpen, how long they take, hows it decided to move on to the next one...etc....instead of that bs music.

In indoor it’s pretty heavy contact, so practicing how to land correctly can help avoid injuries to your arms/shoulders/back etc. Also a good core workout!

Doing the exercises on an uneven surface requires your muscles to work harder to stabilise for balance. Increasing balance and stability improves performance and helps with injury prevention

Thank you mate! I can’t guarantee it will solve your issue, but it might. I’d recommend just experimenting and seeing the results of consuming less dairy. If you feel better, it could be the cause.

Hi guys, I stopped playing football one year ago caused an injury but now I want to play football again. I should do some exercises myself and prepare myself at home and then get back in after the winter break or go back to the training now. Does anyone have suggestions? It’s always good to ease back into your training gradually after an extended time away. If it was me in this situation, I’d work on getting my body fit and strong through regular running and body weight training (increasing intensity over time) also getting the basics back such as your shooting, dribbling, first touch. Then once you feel ready, start training with a club and build from there. Don’t rush though mate, listen to your body.

It’s not really about the amount of meals, but rather the number of calories. Most players are consuming between 3500 to 4000 calories on training days.

3 times per week (twice during the season). One day heavy/power lifts, and 1-2 days core stability/balance work.

Great video as always mate, you mentioned in your individual training that you do strength training on Tuesday then on Wednesday you do plyometrics. Does this mean you do strength training followed by plyometrics on the legs 2 days in a row or is the gym session purely upper body? Because wouldn’t it be bad to do strength and plyometrics on consecutive days on legs due to the lack of recovery? Also, would you ever consider playing in England as I would definitely travel to see you play or train😂

Thanks mate! The plyometrics are without weights, purely focusing on the fast twitch muscle fibres. Haha, I don’t have any plans to play back on England. After living there most of my life, I’m enjoying playing in different parts of the world. I guess you never really know though!
