Great Tutorial. I would like to add one item. When removing cable ends from bracket that has the tabs. I found a very easy and fast way of doing it. Use a 13mm box wrench over the barrel. It depresses the three tabs.

Thank you for everything. I mean everything. I have a 84 Fiero 2m4 with 21k miles I rode in when I was a kid. I just picked up my Grand Prix GTP, have Fiero Rog mounts and brackets, waiting on my harness from James Brown 🤟🏻 What did you dislike about the Xpz cam? Also are the Injectors and fuel pump you used big enough for E85? Best wishes 🤟🏻

Thanks for the feedback! I did not like that I had to delete the balance shaft and had to machine down my valve guides on the cylinder heads for an XPZ cam. Otherwise it is a good cam. Not actually that crazy timings; it's a decent mid range cam compared to LS stuff. It idles very nice and still has plenty of torque. It is made for higher RPM which I never really get to daily driving but that's the name of the game. 80# injectors are plenty for E85 and so is the 340LPH AEM fuel pump. Not really, assuming you are keeping the automatic 4 speed, unless you go way up in power (350hp+), then you might want a hardened input and pump shaft. You can also do a shift kit.

no, those didn't have the same transmission bolt patterns. There are a few similar 3.8L motors around from various cars that did but they aren't too common.

I'm currently planning on doing a 3800sc swap, but i'd like to use the stock getrag 282 transmition. I've heard that the flywheel for the 3800 is too thick for the 282 and that you cant machine down the flywheel because its an external balancer for the engine. would you know how people have overcome this? any help is greatly appreciated.

I just purchased a Fiero in August 2024 that already has the 3800 supercharged engine installed. Is there a fairly easy and straightforward way to determine what 3800 engine and supercharger I have? Is it a Gen2 or Gen3 and is the supercharger a L32 Supercharged Series III 3800 L67 Supercharged Series ? 3800 Also, the transmission was indicated to be a 4T65E Automatic Transmission But … not specifically the 4T65E-HD. Is there a way to determine if the transmission is an HD or not? The engine is not running correctly and will only basically idle around the block. If I try to accelerate, it will pop and die out. The code I’m getting is a misfire on cylinder 04. I just want to determine what 3800 engine and supercharger I have so I can then start digging into the issue.

Easiest way is what car did it come out of? If it's all stock and it came supercharged, then it's a 4t65e-hd. Hey I would advise you search for engines instead of harness, and then call the junkyard and ask if they have the harness on the engine still. The thread only covers a few common transmission types (manual fieros and the 4 speed that came with the 3800). you'll have to do some custom stuff for sure.

I am sure it fits, but I have never seen one. May be because it didn't have a bolt pattern that fit up to a transverse transmission (not positive on this)?
