With magnums I scrub the bore to bare steel every 150-200 rounds. The carbon ring forms fast when you're sending that much copper and powder down your bore every time you pull the trigger. The only thing that will get hard carbon out is abrasives. JB bore paste is what I use. It will really bring a barrel back to life.

You alright? You sound tired or possibly sick. I wish you the best. Get well soon. A Merry Happy Healthy Christmas to you and your family.

Very well could be a scope issue. Watch Quarter Minute Magnums video on a Khales scope that went south. Just a possibility

Great Content. Love the real world results and not just showing the best groups you end up with.

Thank you. Appreciate the demonstration and discussion with perspective. I have shot 7mm Rem Mag a good bit for many years(30+) without any recoil reduction. I have also shot 308 a decent amount for a while off and on the past 20 years. I enjoy both but I would agree that I can get fatigued with my magnum rifles in load development and multiple groups testing much quicker than the lesser powered cartridges. I hadn't really given much consideration to it but now that you mention it I agree. For those out there thinking about a big rifle or a smaller chambering this is a factor you may want to consider. The amount of powder being burnt per shot is another factor. Thank you.

Keeping the crown clean makes a big difference. If the barrel is button rifled that's way to small of diameter for muzzle threads, even if it's cut rifling I wouldn't go that small. I really don't care for a threaded muzzle on button rifled barrels.
@Bojangles620 күн бұрын
Why is that? Because the threading makes a non concentric radius?

I have 5/8-24 threads on a button rifled 338, its fine. I get your point though, a bigger thread would be better.

@@Bojangles6 Generally removing material from the outside diameter will distort the inside diameter. It usually causes the inside diameter to constrict on a button rifled barrel, like a choke. It can effect accuracy but not always.
@Bojangles620 күн бұрын
@@rustynut1967 interesting. I wonder if they were die cut instead of single pointed if it would still distort.

You need to get off the bipods and shoot off bags for that distance. If you want to stay with the bipod, use a foam mat under the feet. Your getting bipod bounce on a hard surface that isn't quite as apparent at 100yds.
