I have over 15 years of experience with Photoshop and Illustrator. I recently canceled my CC sub, and bought Designer and Photo. Your videos have helped me on transitioning over.

Me too! Over 16 years in the trade show industry. After losing job because of Covid, we in the graphics dept. also lost our Adobe licenses. Then, along came Affinity. Hallelujah moment! I purchased all 3 Affinity programs and I'm absolutely loving it! No more monthly Adobe subcriptions for me!

Thank you for showing how to create the texture overlays themselves. Most tutorials only show how to put them in the program and use them, not create them. Great video!

THIS is exactly the step-by-step video I needed to create a distress look for a logo I'm creating! Really easy to understand the steps! Thanks a million :)

Very interesting. Is it possible to turn the textures into styles & change colors, add fx etc? Does this now function as a vector tool or raster? Is it scalable?

What is the purpose of duplicating the texture image and moving it to the bottom of the layer stack? You get the same results without that extra step.
@PDSinger14 жыл бұрын
Could you please address the function of having the texture layer above and below the image? I"m sure there's a good reason but this newb doesn't know it. Unless it's to have something to start with if you loathe your result on the upper layer.

Why do many people duplicate the image, instead of just working with one? I don't see the background image having any purpose...

The fact that something needs to be "rasterized" to be used as a mask is so annoying... like if they couldn't cope with that internally. All that layer system is weak and outdated... I hope they gonna fix that. Great tut.
@7thSeasonSociety2 жыл бұрын
Thanks....yeah I don't even get the "rasterize option to be able to select from an image layer....and for that fact let's ask why there are vector layers as an option....when u make a curve it creates a vector layer ...lol. some of the weird things
@thirstyyet65636 жыл бұрын
Im new to design, in your first part you hit rasterize to mask only and on the second part you did rasterize and a couple steps later you did rasterize to mask. Is either acceptable or was there a reason the two textures were done a little different. Or did I miss something? Thanks
@7thSeasonSociety6 жыл бұрын
Good question .......because the 1st image was already cropped I could skip the rasterize to mask step........ However in the 2nd image of the speaker I had to crop the image....and to apply the crop I had to rasterize it FIRST. You will notice AFTER I rasterized the crop......I did the same thing I did in the first one.......so in short , I had to rasterize to apply the crop in the speaker example

7th Season Studios Ok, Thanks and hopefully I’ll learn more from watching your videos
@7thSeasonSociety6 жыл бұрын
Remember that in order to do some things in digital art you have to RASTERIZE the layer to finalize some effects. Images are different than vector layers and raster art is different than vector art.....so sometimes if it si not working try rasterizing the layer J

I tried this multiple times and it didn’t reveal the png or black text at all... do both images have to be grayscale?
@7thSeasonSociety6 жыл бұрын
No......they are both color. The you do desaturate the top 1 to make it black and white..that is the first adjustment , then then apply the levels to the same layer......so all of the action happens on the top. If you want to send me an email with the file I can diagnose it....I want to make sure my tutorials work for my tribe........ jhazel@7thseasonstudios.com J
