Out of a 12.5 inch barrel at a 1:3 twist the round will make 4.17 revolutions while inside the barrel. Assuming that the MV is around 1 thousand (because you’re running subsonic) we can say that you’re getting around 250,000 RPM at the muzzle. Furthermore, let’s say that you’re running supersonic. Estimated MV of 2,400 doing the same calculation would get you an estimated RPM of 600,000 at the muzzle. For reference a standard .556 out of a 14.5 inch barrel has an RPM of an estimated 340,875. Almost half the speed of the 8.6.

The whole modern craze of sub-sonic ammo is exactly like back in the black powder days with limited velocity to stay below the Mach means to increase effectiveness (power) you must increase bullet weight. With the 'Holy Black' the propellant does the limiting and is why there were so many huge cartridges firing massively heavy bullets when large game was being hunted. Now with the need to stay below the Mach...the same method of increasing power is being employed...and I find this interesting. What goes around...comes around.
@RockinRack8 ай бұрын
That's why I never got into 300bo for it's effectiveness at supersonic speeds there's nothing I'm going to shoot that a 223 won't handle and suppresed there's not a huge difference. At subsonic ranges which I would consider home defense ranges a 45acp does the same thing but expands reliably without spending a fortune on fancy bullets. I think 300bo is fun out of a bolt action but I just have no need for it. It's not quiet enough from a gas gun to make it interesting
