I'm getting into character modelling and realized how hard retopology can be. Your video just saved me a lot of anxiety, Thanks!

Dude, it's a whole process. Blocking out, sculpting, retopo, baking, texturing, rigging, weight painting. One character is often month+ worth of work.

@@geloboy123 The model? Maybe if they are that good or made a model that simple, a good character model can take anywhere from 10-20 hours so ur looking at a day to a week depending on skill and detail. That would include the blocking out, and sculpting phase. Reto depends on if you want to do it or not and some do it at the same time they sculpt. Texturing if you want to paint it which baking does and sometimes doesn't matter as much but doesn't take as long as modeling it, rigging and weight painting is in preparation for animating and maybe posing, if ur not doing that u can ignore it. So if ur just doing a character just to make one and nothing else, aim for doing it within a week, even better if the character is done good enough to then practice different things on for more weeks rather than making a whole new model

@adityalokapratama8495 : PolyQuilt (Retopo) + Poly Source (perfect visualization of the low poly over the high poly reference). That couple of free add ons beats hands down the Blender's vanilla retopo. First time I finally find something for Blender that's as good as Maya's retopo tools.

@@hicoolvideosyouhave If you already have Quad Remesher, as we say in our country: "if it is not broken, do not fix it!" , I really tried many addons, and I know the effort it takes to create one, but really the neat way to solve the geometry that the Quad has is impressive, but it is very expensive! Another option you have is if you are already a Zbrush user, is to import the models and use the ZRemesher, is from the same coder Maxime Rouca, there is even an addon call GOB to import and export directly. Greetings!

How does all this stand to the default new quad remember? Also to that. If there is a lot of free add ons that are better than the default. Why do no Blender foundation pay the creators a little or helps them to clean up code / align UI etc to get those into the core blender instead of doing similar features themselves.?

@NicotineStars3 жыл бұрын
who knows. BUT he did list some automatic retopo's on here which you could have easily just chosen one. If there were any kinks you could manually fix them or use a diff addon to fix it,,
@HanSolocambo Жыл бұрын
Best auto-retopo so far, nothing I know beats it, is the "Retopology Tools" of 3DS Max. I keep this app installed just for that. Amazingly efficient, and super clean results. Never got anything close to that level of clean retopology with Blender (+add-ons), Maya or Zbrush. But I'd advise manual retopology (Poly Source + Polyquilt). The best retopology tool remains the artist hismelf ;) All auto-remeshers try to generate a similar polygonal density on all the mesh, even on parts totally flat that could have been fine with just 1 quad. So it's a retopology all right, but in terms of optimization (especially for real time engines)... it's terrible ;)
