I've been keeping my eye on the iPlay 60 Pro for some time now since I've been in the market for a budget 8" tablet for retro gaming. Another 8" tablet you might want to look into is the 2024 Walmart Onn tablet. I think it has a G80 SoC and if not for the fact that it can't be obtained outside of the US, I'd probably pick one up. It's obviously less powerful, but it could be a good choice for people interested only in PS1 (and below) level emulation.

The Turbo is a nice option to consider over the Pro if you're OK with the state of GC/Wii emulation on the device. The Snapdragon and power improvement will give it a bit more leg room for longevity. I didn't realize they made an updated version of the 8" Onn tablet, the price is wild for that one!

Good video as always. Your showcases of products are always tempting and when something this cheap pops up it becomes even harder not to buy lol. fortunately I had found a good deal on the one plus pad 2 you showcased a while ago and its my go to device other than my phone. They made it function really well with its keyboard case and its multitasking gestures. I pair it with a gamesir g8+ and I dont find it too hard to play when sitting and holding it to my face. otherwise its bluetooth and I use the kickstand and play on a table. I'm still tempted to buy something like this but this display is a little too dim. also I really only struggle juggling my tablet with my hands in landscape view with 1 fullscreen app open at times lol. Excited to see the y700 and maybe I'll change my mind about downsizing :)

I found the sound on the iplay 50 pro to be unacceptably bad. It wasn't just quiet but thin and gross and I felt like reviewers were not clear just how bad the sound was on that tablet. In the end the terrible sound was one of the major reasons I ended up sending it back. What I'd like to know is how much of an improvement the sound is? Is it just louder or are the speakers better? The 60 is night and day. The 50 has mono(1) speaker. 60 has stereo(2) speakers.

Yea, I did the recent update and unfortunately GC is still an issue. 😭😭 My favorite controller is the GameSir G8+ but there’s lots of options because of the smaller size!

That’s pretty good power for the price. I do wish someone made Android tablets in the 4:3 ratio like iPads instead of always going 16:9. Mainly because I like to use them for mini arcade projects and 16:9 doesn’t look as nice for old arcade games.

Walmart’s new Onn tablet pro 11” has an iPad-like aspect ratio. Not sure it’s exactly 4:3, but close. Ima get one for that reason/

Same, I prefer that aspect ratio as well. I think it makes more sense for tablet devices. The OnePlus Pad 2 has a ratio closer to that with it being 7:5, which I wish we would see more of (especially at a smaller scale). I think the battery life test is LESS about the CPU and MORE about the low NITS for the screen. At 50% brightness you are pushing 175NITS which is like 6-7% of the max brightness you can get on a Google Pixel 9. So yeah, that is a very dim screen.

My battery testing is mostly standardized across my reviews. For reference, the iPlay50 Mini Pro with the Helio G99 had half the battery life for the YT test. The screen is essentially the same between those two tablets. It’s definitely a dim screen but that Snapdragon 6 Gen 1 is barely working a sweat for light tasks like YT.

I am interested in running 3DS and DS on this because the tablet seems perfect but the Wii and Dolphin bit is depressing and so weird considering other tablets don't have issues with it. Bummed about CEMU as I own Fatal Frame on it so I would like to run that and FES. Yes I own BOTH Nintendo. edit: Wait a minute, what Android version does this run? I have heard Android 14 has some emulation issues so if its Android 14 maybe that is the reason for the Wii and Gamecube issues.

This is exactly what i was looking for. I wanted a tablet just for emulating the ps2 but only option was the $500 Y700 which i can't justify to ky wife getting just for playing ps2 games. Im currently using my old pixel 6 phone for retro emulation and some ps2 games just are not playable. It was hard to find a comparison to their chipset. Do you think you think this is a upgrade?

May want to mess with your emulator settings. I can run PS2 great on the 50 mini pro which has a Helio G99. The Tensor chip is far more powerful.

I purchased this tablet and it is great but I had issues with the Playstation 1 emulation. I tried 3 separate emulators and on every one there was very slight pauses every 15-20 seconds. I am not sire if it is an android 14 issue or an issue with the chipset. I sold it and will buy something else instead.

@@retrotechdad I tried Duckstation, FPSE, and EPSXE. All 3 had the same issues. I tested multiple games. It's not terrible, it's very slight and a person could probably live with it, but PS1 was one of the main systems I wanted to use it for so it was disappointing. Have you tried any PS1 emulation? I didn't notice the issue on other emulators I tried.

No, the springs carry communication between both sides of the controller, it's pretty cool. I've never experienced them breaking on me personally and I'm pretty rough with all of them. The springs are pretty strong.

I bought this tablet shortly after it was announced when I saw that it has SD6G1 SOC. I wrongly assumed that comms were baked into SOCs, so I was under the impression that the device would have wifi 6e. I was pretty disappointed when I found out it does not. Though it has been performing well enough except the KZbin app is bugged (and now dolphin it seems, I will test later) Im still uncertain about whether the comms are built into the SOC as I can't find any good information on the subject online. But if they are built in, then maybe its possible we could get wifi 6/6e with an OTA update? Im not optimistic about it though.

Chip has wifi 6. I believe it is software locked somehow by Alldocube. So maybe in future firmware update 🤷🏻‍♂️

@@123MisterPetey makes no sense to software lock a good feature, that's why I'm not hopeful an update will fix it. My guess is the SOC is capable of wifi 6/6e but still requires the device manufacturer to install antennae or something. Why else not offer a good feature on your device?

A recycled, twicked SD 845 chipset. Not bad I guess. Snapdragon really do like to recycle their old chipset and rename it to another one for marketing strategy and all I can say is it is a good for us but they should've lower the price so the buyers of this chipset can also lower the price of the device. This tablet is still over priced on my opinion but I cannot blame them by using snap dragon chipset.

Streaming was solid with Moonlight using Sunshine, the latency was very low. The decoding times are a little higher than I'd like to see but I didn't notice any real issues streaming from my PC.

Wifi 5 is good enough for game streaming as long as you don't have a ton of congestion, ie multiple family members using devices at the same time or living in an apartment with thin walls. I have this device, and I noticed game streaming with it after my kids go to bed is a fine experience, but there is a little noticeable lag when everyone is awake (though I would still consider it playable for games without frenetic action).
