Your instruction and safety drills and survival training is outstanding!! There is no way that I would go into an underwater cave and dive without this kind of meticulous training. Every detail matters. Every safety precaution matters. Every drill is mandatory if you want to enjoy the caves and come out alive at the end.The footage is stunning and I can certainly see the attraction.This makes the 3rd time that I have watched your video. I was born with spina bifida and I am disabled. I will never be able to travel to these beautiful places and experience cave diving myself, but that's OK because I feel like I am there with you. I can almost feel the warm water rushing all around me and the feel of the sunshine on my face when I surface at the end of the dive. I feel like I am there with you. Thank you for taking me along !!!

There's few private production videos this long worth watching to the end. Yours is one of them. Thanks for this.

WOW - I really admire your training for emergencies such as entanglement, losing line, out of air, etc. !!! BLINDFOLDED !!!!! My son, during his PADI Instructor cert was generally harassed by his trainers and that made him such a confident diver. Even I, at 63 years old and 500+ dives would like more training. Anyway, I am very impressed. Thank you for sharing this with us.

I'm thinking about becoming a cave diver. I've never dove before so obviously I want to start open water scuba diving first. Videos like these really do help to understand the effort and amount of training that is required for a safe cave dive and it inspires me to one day become one of this technical divers. Thanks for motivating me into a new hobby I would have never even slightly considered without channels like yours or dive talk or Rory the cave mapper. I just worry that I'm too old to start diving...

I have the uttermost respect for cave divers. I and fascinated by Florida springs and over the years have visited dozens of them. I see cave divers all the time. This is something I know I could never do. Cave diving is one of those things that you have to have the brain wired in certain way to do it.

***** haha I am surprised you did not know it was me videoing, that really was magical editing work ;) For others watching this, the skill of videoing divers in training, has took me years to master. It is not something everyone can do especially in the cave training environment. Safety and conservation must always come first before getting the video or photo shots.

this is absolutely outrageous (in the best possible way)!! what a video! Do you allow your students to use back mount for full cave certification or only side mount? PS: I'm only a master diver with PADI but my plan is to stay in Mexico for 20 days in 2017 for full cave certification. By then I might have close to 100 dives.

Forgive me if this is a dumb question but if you are following a line out in zero visibility could you attach yourself to the line using a retracting reel or something similar so that if you drop the line you can find it again? also, why has nobody invented a reel line that feels different sliding through your fingers if you are heading the wrong way? Something like scales..

Isn't it a bit risky to simulate malfunctions when u are actually in the cave??
@Yggdrasil42 Жыл бұрын
There's always some risk but all of these drills are first practiced repeatedly in open water then gradually stepped up. At some point you have to practice in the cave otherwise you'll never earn the confidence you need in a real emergency. The instructor takes the students comfort level, gas consumption and other factors like the fragility of the cave into account. Some, like the lost line drill (where students will hit the floor and ceiling) is done in dedicated "dead zone" sections where the community has accepted that damage will occur. Every instructor does it in the same area to keep that damage contained.
@romanovanesov51393 жыл бұрын
what initial training did this student have? Did he have the same level as the intro to cave?
@sidemountscubadiving3 жыл бұрын
They had completed a 5 day Sidemount Essentials in water course with me in Gozo, Malta. Prior to starting this cave training course in Mexico. Also they did some practice after the initial training at there home in Sweden.
