One feature Apple Maps needs to make is the depart and arrive time alerts that Google Maps has. Only way to have something similar like this in Apple Maps is to add it to Calendar and specify the location you are going etc. It then uses maps to check traffic and give you an alert when it's time to leave. That's counterproductive and who wants to do that every time they want to go somewhere. All that should be done in the Maps app.

I am a heavy Maps user, and I’m a Calendar user too so this combination works for me, but I agree with you, it can be improved upon. There is a way in Maps to set the time you want to arrive by. Just press the “Now” button and change the time to future time and hit apply and Maps show you when you should leave but when you press Go, it gives turn my turn directions instead of driving navigation directions which sucks. So that’s why I do not use that feature maybe. Maybe it switches to driving navigation when You are in transit driving there.

@@Ded-Ede yes even with that trick of changing the time you should leave to set a custom time it still doesn't give you an alert based on real time current traffic when it's time to go. It just shows you a suggested time to leave while you're right there in the Maps app. Which doesn't seem accurate to me if you want to arrive somewhere much later than current time you're in the app. Also, yes like you said it defaults to turn by turn when you do this instead of driving navigation which makes no sense. I've always had to stop and restart the navigation to get out of that. Not to compare it to Google Maps but I can easily go in there and pick a destination and say I want to arrive there 6hrs from now... and it will alert me when it's time to leave to arrive by that time based on real time current traffic conditions. It's clear Apple Maps can do the same thing since you can do it through Calander, and it will give you an alert based on current traffic. It just makes no sense you can't do it all in Apple Maps without setting it all up in Calander.

In evaluating Apple Maps and Google Maps, which one would I rather teach to my mother? And yes Apple Maps could be improved, but you can say that about any of the Apple features.

Apple Maps is the more stable of the two right now. Sometimes Googles updates go weird,but they do satellite imagery better imo.

Nice tips. It’s safer to use Siri to report the hazards or accidents etc. Just say hey Siri report a hazard etc. I like the ar feature. That’s cool 😎 I’ll have to try it.
@Ded-Ede Жыл бұрын
1:39 Better and safer is to ask Siri “ report accident” or “report hazard” by pressing the voice input button on your steering wheel.

Problem I have is that it does not have "Home" as a default location when you open it up. Sorry old man do not go to work any more so would like to be able to remove it as a choice. So when I go out somewhere with an address I have added to a calendar entry. When I am done would like to open my Apple Map application and have "Home" be at the top of the list. Because at lease 80 percent of the time that is where I want to go.
@cultofmac Жыл бұрын
There is a “Home” option. It’s based on what you have set as your home address on your contact record. Then, any time you’re out, the default quick favorite button has “Home”. Works with CarPlay Apple Maps and on iPhone.

Does Apple Maps have a feature similar to Google maps where you can click on restaurants it will show pens for all the restaurants close to the area you’re viewing?😮

How many guides can you create and how many optimizations for route distance can you do. I want to replace Road Warrior with Apple Maps and drive a route of locations that has the most optimal distance please 🙏🏻 reply back to this so I see the response
@dgriffinjones5 ай бұрын
In Maps, you're limited to "300 locations in guides" and I don't think you can do route planning among locations in a guide. You should probably stick to Road Warrior.

Apple Maps lacks basic features like adding a location and naming it and so we can orient ourselves and not get lost! And like all these map apps it spins around and around and disorients normal users. Not intuitive at all.

Apple Maps is awful compared to Google Maps. Are you just trying to get invited to Apple events?
@maikaimakena9424 Жыл бұрын
Apple Maps wining feature will be offline Maps to compete against Google Maps which was very important. Secondly one thing that Google maps doesn’t allow that apple supports is making your map your own by customizing the maps with guide and adding emojis and icons to your map I am strictly an Apple Maps users because I use guides and customize my maps with icons and logos and use icons and custom words to make my map my own. I invite Apple to study my Maps so they can see how I use them. It makes me so happy to have that. @apple @applesupport ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤🤙⚡️🔑🔑🔑
