For people doing period correct builds and the bike has a clutchless shimano derailleur, you can use a zip tie around the pivot points in between the fin shaped thing and the hanger and cage. It works amazing for getting rid of chain slap and cost pennies

I do have a tip for removing the last few drops water from the bladder. Chuck it in the freezer and it will turn to ice. And easier to remove

Wow, really useful tricks. My favourite hack these days is using the plastic tool you get with a frame protector film, wrap it around a rag and use that to clean between the cogs of the cassette. Also: An even better tool to clean out tubeless valves is a straight pull spoke.
@NZWozza2 жыл бұрын
Been doing the denture tablets for the bladders for years. Works well, just the next drink tastes a bit weird not matter how much you rinse it out. Love the chain cleaning tool. Word of the video 'Raz'.

Wash and empty out the bladder then stick it in the freezer. Or in the summer and you've been using water just stick the remaining in the freezer ( flat ) and you've got a nice cold ice block ready to add more water to.

putting a penny (or similar sized coin) in the end of each grip prevents the end of the handlebar from punching thru the soft rubber grip end, in the event of a tip over

My favorite chain cleaning hack is to cut a slice into a kitchen sponge. Soak it in a bit of cleaner, put the chain in the slit and crank it around. Works like a charm. :)
@steelytail2 жыл бұрын
Ditch Presta tubeless valves for Schrader valves. Much stronger and with bigger volume. They pump up and seal new tubeless tyres faster as they let much more air in. All you need is an 8mm drill bit and drill the rim to fit the bigger valve.
@phorest2 жыл бұрын
Unless you have carbon rims...
@steelytail2 жыл бұрын
@@phorest I don't have them so can't be sure, but I strongly suspect that they'd be ok with that.
@sp00n2 жыл бұрын
Pipe cleaner for the valves, they're basically long wires with a brush on them. You can also disassemble most of the valve cores, which can clog up themselves as well.
@phorest2 жыл бұрын
How do you disassemble the core?

Use the Allen key trick in automotive applications all the time. Chevy is notorious for 17mm drain plugs on their transmissions. We use the same trick. You'd be amazed how much torque you can apply. While I agree that I wouldn't do it on soft aluminum parts like pivot bolts, it's not bodge, this is a commonly used hack and it works with allenhead sockets you can even torque to spec. I cut off a 7 mm Allen key and use a 10 mm 3/8" drive Allen socket to torque to specs. It works just fine. I have never tried it on soft metal though so avoiding the soft metal parts is probably a good idea. Would probably work just fine but it's probably for the best to avoid that situation if at all possible.
@specializedadventuresafari2772 жыл бұрын
Probably a good idea to start the disc rotor bolts by hand 1st to prevent cross threading them and ruining your hub by trying to save a few seconds of time. Proper tools and smaller quarter inch drive socket set with a 1/4 inch socket on the end will fit the torx bits and allen key bits used elsewhere on your bike too and using the T bar and long extension to crack them and spin them loose using the shaft makes this job pretty quick anyway. I did like the recycled toothbrush hack though keep up the good work on these vids. Cheers boys 🍻

Lemon juice with a bit of water cleans hydration bladders really well. When not in use roll them up and store in the freezer. I have one that has been with me since I started racing my four wheeler as a kid so about 24 years now.
@bjornolavsjogren2 жыл бұрын
I use a shift wire to clean out the bladder hose. Stick in the pointy end, wrap a minimal cloth around the wire and pull the wire through. Basically it’s like cleaning a gun barrel.
@kevinw62822 жыл бұрын
Nice tips. Hadn't thought of the aerosol can cap for scraping out sealant from a tire. I like to use an old spoke in valve stems, the threads on the spoke helps to scrape off the sealant and the usually flat end helps similarly. I have even ground the tip flat more than what it is from the factory to get more of a scraper effect in the stem tube. But haven't thought to use a solvent, so will definitely try that too.
@tychoMX2 жыл бұрын
Old spokes are so useful - make a pick, a little hook, and a little scraper out of them.

Use a presta value where you can remove the core and has hole straight through and use a syringe and tube to suck out the tubeless sealant when changing the tire. Also great way to check how much fluid is left in the tire before I add more. And I do not need to dismount the tire to add more as well.

The brushes don't last very long though, probably also depends on their stiffness. If you use soft ones, they will be bent after a few uses. And buying stiff ones wouldn't be free anymore.
