@bsmith4u2 Great question. I owned the first Honda with cylinder deactivation. It was a 2008 Accord with a 3.5 liter engine that started using oil at around 120,000 miles. The car was maintained by the book, literally. By 150,000 miles it was using a quart every 1,000 miles. And it had several other issues. One being the front cam shaft had to be replaced because a love has become pitted. It was basically worthless at 150,000 miles. We “traded”, i.e. gave it to a Toyota dealer for a 2016 4Runner SR5 4WD. Which was a fabulous car and zero problems at 80k miles.

I was also a longtime 2004 manual 4-banger Tacoma owner, and when I got a new job that I had to drive through downtown LA all the time, I needed to go for an automatic truck when I got to 200K miles on my Tacoma. I test drove the Chevy Colorado, the Ford Maverick, a new Tacoma, and then the Ridgeline. I dont ever tow, I just move large furniture, tool boxes, or lumber for small construction projects, and go mountain biking all the time. The Ridgeline was the smoothest truck I have ever driven, it had more space, more storage space, more features, wider bed, and it got a lot better gas mileage than the competition. I average 20 mpg in the city. (I also still have my little Tacoma for dirty jobs - like going to the dump or getting 12 ft 2x4s)

It's done 600 miles one way pulling the trailer loaded cross country, no problem. The V6 does well overall and it is the best riding pickup ever owned. I've owned 1/2, 3/4 and now a 1 ton pickup, no comparison in ride and interior space. I have a neighbor with a 2020 Tacoma that I've been in multiple times and it feels dated and rides very harsh in comparison. I watched another youtuber who did an off-road comparison between the Ridgeline, the Tacoma and the Chev. It did everything the other two did except for a nasty rock crawl. Didn't want to risk it because it only has 9" of clearance. (who cares, how many people go rock climbing with these trucks) Deep snow, mud and hill climbs all done well. It even climbed one steep, rutted hill that stopped the Chev and Toyota! Honda went right up in it's standard all wheel drive configuration and stock tires. Amazing. This is my everday driver as well and it performs perfectly. It's a keeper for sure.

I've got 245,000 miles on my 06 RTL, and it's still a great truck. The first generation Ridgelines, while classified as a unibody, have a full perimeter frame - it just happens to be solidly welded to the body. I don't have much use for a truck designed to tow 15,000 lbs, or put 3,000 in the bed, but I've regularly had 1200 in the bed and have towed 3500 with no issues other than reduced mileage. The AWD (Honda called it 4WD on the 1st generation trucks) works surprisingly well, and I've gone further offroad than people expect. It's not a rock crawler, but it's not going to tip over - it's the widest truck, with the lowest center of gravity in it's class.
