I don’t think there’s any other country or group of companies that have come together to support the GTR platform,as well as each other,while developing parts & systems that maintain a car & continue to develop it far beyond its original purpose. & for a car(s) that goes back 30 odd years. Makes me extremely proud to be an Aussie as well as a car nerd. For such a small population we certainly punch well above our weight not just in this, but endless other endeavours. The fact we can get access to all of this content for free & share it with the world brings a tear to my eye. Sorry for the sloppy early Sunday morning sentiment. I’ve been watching motive content for quite some time & just felt compelled to testify to me fellow car brethren. ❤

Hey @Motive Video will you definitely go Billet block?? I kind of do & don’t want that (I’ll 100% support either way 😂) but in my opinion would feel like you’re taking leap to “Drag/Track” focused only car. I’m here for it either way

@MotiveVideo3 ай бұрын
@@PHATT_TV We were 50/50 just before this makeover for USA. 50% of us wanted to for reliability, but 50% wanted to stay cast block so the car holds onto some relatability. Billet block implies "7 second car" . Going 8.6 on cast block and 76mm turbo is impressive, while going 8,6 on a billet block and 80mm turbo like a slightly larger G45-1600 would make the car less "impressive" from initial impression. Really a billet block would be for reliability, not extra power. We will talk about this in a live Q&A next week.

The aircon hasn't worked in so long and the heater box was broken, so we just removed it. Even with aircon, we wouldn't drive it in hot weather anyway, as we generally race it over winter and park it up over summer.

@MotiveVideo3 ай бұрын
It's unbelievable as it sounds, it's actually not a "money no object" build. We are lucky to have sponsor support to help build a car beyond what we can "afford". If it was money no object, it would be bare shell rebuild with Garage Active widebody, billet block, billet rear diff with billet driveshafts along with 3.6L stroker, nitrous and more.

Ok…. We run an adjustable vacuum regulator off the exhaust cam cover and completely block off the inlet cam cover. We adjust the vacuum of the sump to the appropriate setting with a gauge and leave it. I have noticed I am one of the very few to do this (circuit gtr) my way seem the easiest, the way you have done it with a pipe from the cam cover to the dry sump tank seems to be the most common I have seen, but how do you know what vacuum you are pulling in the sump so you don’t under lubricant the bearings?
@MotiveVideo3 ай бұрын
Great idea, and works very well in NA applications. There is no way we are pulling vacuum on a RB that is making over 1100 horsepower and running over 32psi.
@YB0THA3 ай бұрын
@@MotiveVideo mmmmmm ok. I’ll have to look into your comment. I only run 550hp with a 4 stage pump. Mr Robbie Ward also used the same setup I have (he builds my motors) in his 1000kw+ builds 🤷🏽♂️
@YB0THA3 ай бұрын
@@dillon_r_hansen yes mine is dry sump. 4 stage Peterson. No, you won’t draw vacuum from a wet sum as you oil pickup must remain in the oil otherwise you will run a bearing. My setup is nothing new, I would argue my way is the traditional way, regardless of HP, if you have At least 3 stages scavenging from the sump then you will draw vacuum.

Genuine question. My evo produces approx 1L of water / e85 in the catch can every 3to4 tanks… I imagine the rb platform to produce a similar if not more… I wouldn’t want that going back into my oil?? I change the oil every time I drive it being a track only car, still I wouldn’t want 500ml of fluid going contaminating the engine oil? What’s your theory behind this?
@MotiveVideo3 ай бұрын
That's conventional thinking, and understand why most think that way. But you ned to understand water/ethanol in your catch can occurs due to condensation and cooling down. If your engine is warm, it burns off the ethanol. What comes out of your engine can also go back in.
