Maria, would you please make a video on how you style you hair. You look so youthful. I’ve got similar hairstyle but struggling to style it so it looks movable and youthful. Thank you!

I was so happy to have found your channel this week, as I will be 60 in a few days. I have always been one who loved clothes and dressing nicely. So when I had to retire early due to serious health issues (6 years ago), I was a bit lost for a while. But I finally donated most of my pumps and business attire, and have done exactly what you have described. I got rid of anything that didn't fit or fit into my new lifestyle. I have purchased flats and cute sandals that are made for comfort. For my birthday, I did give my wardrobe a "freshen up." I purchased some beautiful pieces from my favorite store, with shoes and accessories to make complete outfits. Even with the pandemic, and my health, I don't leave the house that often.... when I do, I feel great in my clothes. I have also lost my waist due to daily steroid medication, but I love your idea of wearing scarves, long necklaces, buckles for baggie shirts etc. So thank you!

Thank you. I'm 44 today, and am happier now than two years ago when I didn't realise the nasty symptoms I had were due to perimenopause. Mum only lived to 59 so she's not here to ask, but I do know that this is earlier than normal for my family, and is probably due to some other health issues, stress, etc. Thank you to you and your viewers for being one of the sources of support in Mum's absence. Thank you also for mentioning that people may lose or gain weight - it depends on so many factors, and can fluctuate for all sorts of reasons.

What very practical and carefully put together advice, thank you. You have a very pleasant voice and manner. Fortunately, I have reached that advanced age where I finally know exactly what I like to wear and don't care what my peers think!

Wear the style, colors and accessories that make you look good, feel happy and give you confidence - what excellent advice! When clearing out my wardrobe, I ask myself, "Would I buy this again?" If not, out it goes.

I completely agree, body shape changes in mid-life don’t necessarily involve weight change. I was always a normal-weight hourglass, but, without any weight gain, my waist just thickened about an inch a year from age 45-50. There is no such thing as spot-reducing, it’s either accept your new shape or get painful, expensive, risky surgery. I try to love my new rectangle shape, but it’s a lot harder to find clothes now that fit, the waists are usually too small if I fit my narrow shoulders and hips. I know a lot of YTers claim that alterations are cheap, but they’re not where I live. It’s $100-200 to take in a blazer, for example. Luckily, I can do most of my own alterations, but some stress or frustrate me too much, like shoulder changes and hemming silk!

My style is so similar to yours, and I love wearing cardigans and kimonos to bring colour and interest to my outfits. Your guidance helps to have another look at what I have and to refresh some pieces that I have not worn for some time. I love watching your videos as it always leaves me with some food for thought. Thank you,

Well done! I absolutely loved this video. You have literally read my mind! I can check off ALL the boxes of challenges you have outlined in this piece. I'm going to share your link with a group I belong to in a program called "Half Size Me". I'm a member of a small sub-group of women within this program, "maintainers". i.e. women who have been maintaining a weight loss and get support for maintaining and liking where we are. We talk about maintaining a healthy, achievable weight versus striving for the bodies of younger years that you've so aptly described in this video. Many of us are in the over 50 group, and wardrobe is one of those areas we struggle with but don't talk about with much specificity. For me personally, I'm 61. I'm currently somewhere between a US 12P and 14P. My wardrobe is chock full of clothes I have had for "years" and do not wear. They were useful when I worked in the corporate world 25 years ago. Most are beautiful quality, like Eileen Fisher and Dana Buchman. But, they are sizes and shapes that 'sort of fit' now, again, but no longer cover the lumps and bumps of me today. It is so hard for me to actually give up a piece of Eileen Fisher clothing! The rest of my wardrobe is very inexpensive and casual, mostly athletic wear, that I throw on and "don't look at" as I walk out the door. I have a lot of work left to do for myself and you are providing very useful roadmaps. I've watched some of your others over the past week and admire the quality of your content. Thank you, again, for producing such helpful and practical tutorials!

Hi Maria, thank you for your informative video. Over the last few months I have been steadily watching all of your videos (from your very earliest videos) as I find them so helpful. I love your sense of dress style and I am gradually incorporating some of your excellent suggestions into my wardrobe. So once again - thank you - and wishing you all the very best.

Great tips . Thank you so much Maria. I have just managed to ditch a load of clothes I don’t feel good in any more . It was quite hard but I did it anyway. That guilty feeling you mentioned I have felt many times. I have made mistakes but I am improving when I am shopping. I have a better idea of my style. At last!

I tried on quite a few things in my wardrobe earlier today and found a few things I’d forgotten about! I definitely have items I need to get rid of. I eagerly await your videos. You’ve introduced me to clothing makes I didn’t know. I have an idea of pieces that I need to find now, so thank you for doing what you do.

Great advice and video, Maria. I love that you advise people to give away items that they're 'slimming into'. You're right, there really is no point in keeping them as they contribute to our feelings of guilt if we don't lose weight. Another point I like is that you suggest editing the wardrobe towards the end of the process. Some youtubers start editing clothes to make a capsule wardrobe right at the beginning but how can you edit if you're not sure what you really like?!
@Mariafsadler2 жыл бұрын
Thank you. Yes don’t edit until near the end when you’ve tried everything because you might be able to wear the item in a different way 😊

thank you for an informative and very good mood video. I gave all my business suits to charity a few years ago when I retired, and I must say I miss them as I was so used to the classic look. I find it harder not to look frumpy in light clothes, I live in a hot climate zone, and it is hard to wear layers. I love your outfit with a kimono top, i often wear botton down straight shirts over vests as a light top. I intend to follow your videos. Keep up the good work

I watched your video saying that size doesn’t matter and we should wear what we want. Your first example of the pants and shirt that you would wear at home and it was unflattering until you dressed it up. I seen hundreds of women in slob mode. Heavy set women with a tank top and tight leggings ,flip flops, hair a mess no makeup over 50. Depending on where you live A lot of women don’t care what they look like. I am like yourself. I always leave my home put together. I am 70. I learned this from my mother and my grandmother was the same. I like your videos because finally there is some one I can relate to.

Seasons help people stick to the shades or tones that suits eye and skin tone Some people are neutral but many fall into warm or cool so if their fav colours are not compatible to their skin then they’ll look less than their best. Better to stick with accessories such as handbag or shoes etc when it comes to particular shades they love
