You are spot on regarding slim fit jeans. About three years ago, I was in a store looking for jeans. The young saleswoman asked if I wanted to try slim fit and I immediately said no, thinking she meant skinny jeans. She suggested trying a pair of regular cut and a pair of slim fit so I could see the difference. It was amazing! The slim fit jeans eliminated all the bagginess in the rear and thighs, tapered beautifully and to my surprise were very comfortable, i.e., not tight at all. I was sold on them immediately and when I told her how amazed I was, she said one of the most difficult things is getting men to even try slim fits on. One last comment: regarding shirts, have a few nice button-up shirts that you can take to a local laundry/dry cleaner and have them done for you (always ask for them on hangers!) Then keep those in your closet, ready to go for when you are going out to dinner, etc. It doesn't cost that much and it really stands out when your shirt has a nice crisp look.

The wet towel in the dryer with wrinkled clothes does work. I also put trousers in the dryer immediately after wearing them to relax the fibers before placing them on a hanger. This is more proactive. Dressing out of the clothes hamper rarely turns out well.

Speaking about finding the right cut or style of jeans, I made a trip into the city and went to the Levis flagship store. I was able to try on a bunch of different styles of jeans and found, for me, the tapered athletic cut was the best fit for me. Now I can order them online with no hassle and know I’m getting my best fit. Well worth the investment of time one time.

As someone who did it I can spot people looking tired who wear loose fitting shorts n t shirts even in winter for a reason, men and women. You can spot others that are caring 24 hrs for someone that are wearing a certain outfit/uniform where you are dressed but loose enough to enable you to snatch sleep where you can but dressed enough to jump up in emergency or just when required. Throw on a hoody to run an errand still kicking shorts even in a snowstorm. In A way you have given up or paused your own life as your full attention is in someone else’s life whether it be full time care or palliative care. It’s a look how they dress or carry themselves and a look on their face.

Good advice as always. I see the given up look all the time. I have a co-worker who has: jeans that don't fit, shirts almost threadbare (one of our female co-workers told him to get new shirts!), and the cheapest shoes with holes at the big toe after so many hours of abuse. I don't buy pricey clothes for my job due to the chemical exposures but I do make sure they fit and replace the worn out items asap.

I'm addicted to those Anson belts - I have five buckles and six belts. I really like the black invincibelt in woven with a gunmetal buckle. The Owner used to have giveaways on Facebook, and he showed that combo once. Stunning. I also have that blue-and-white striped one, and I've gotten quite a few compliments on that. The only problem is that some of the pictures aren't so accurate on the website. I have an olive one that's lighter than the pic., and I have a graphite nylon that's darker than expected. I might have to go with that gray one that you have pictured at 3:58.

Great video, John. Couldn't agree with you more. The baggy loose fit has got to go. That style of fit probably goes back as far as the 80s and maybe in the 90s as well. Some people get stuck in a fashion trend from back when they were in high school. The only time I'm wearing a t-shirt is when doing yard work house cleaning or going for a hike. Speaking of Anson belts I had a 20 dollar gift card they'd given me and I used it to buy one of there belt hangers. So I paid only paid 4.99 plus shipping for it. Have a good day John.

Another great video, as always you are a legend. Do you know anyone that does a good job of review fashionable shoes and boots that are for wider feet? It can be very hard to find nice footwear when you have wider feet. Most of the time I tend to wear less than fashionable footwear sadly for 2 reasons. Not lying, Fred Durst was an inspiration for me to dress a bit smarter in my early 20's. Mainly due to the girl I was dating at the time said, dressing like that in your 40's is such a turn off. First I corrected her that he was only 29 - 30 (bad mistake lol), but it stuck. Every time I saw an older guy that dressed a bit like him (big baggy shorts, a bad tshirt thats been around the block a few times, baseball cap worn with the peek at the back or sneakers thats really meant for teenagers) all I saw was a Fred Durst and my girlfriend saying "Turn off" and pulling a funny face. It made me steer away from such garments. Not saying I suited up, just dressed more buttoned up with staple reliable options, like Chukka boots, jeans that fit and Polo's and if I needed a jacket, the good old reliable MA1 green bomber with the orange inner lining (20 odd years on, still might get a new one of them).

What's the difference between slim fit and modern fit? 🤔
@40OverFashion8 ай бұрын
It depends on the brand. Everybody seems to be different. I might say that modern fit would be a little bit more relaxed than slim fit. Again, depends on the brand.
@thullraven17 ай бұрын
Fit is king. You taught me that years ago. I'm in good shape. I wear T-Shirts and dark wash slim fit jeans as my defaults, but the fit is good. I do wear sandals in the warmer months, but only with fitted shorts and not on dates. I have cargo shorts, but they look nothing like the monstrosities in this video. They are above the knee and fit better. Again, I don't wear them on dates.

I’m in FL too and wear tanks or sleeveless shirts around 75% of the time. In my opinion, if you are in good shape, you can pretty much much wear anything (neat and presentable) and you will always look better than an unfit person dressed to the nines. Clothes, especially in the tropics, need to be practical above all else and I just cannot fathom wearing long pants, socks and closed toe shoes in this climate.

Women have a lot more fashion choices as to what clothes they can choose compared to men. Plenty of women do also wear t-shirts, shorter shorts than men, denim jackets, tank tops and jeans. I dress more modestly in certain places where others are dressed that way such as social functions. It would help if there are nicer looking jeans and t-shirts for men as there are for women
