I feel that the suggestion to complete the triad involves Unikalhai because he should be in the first at this point in the story if you did all the ShB role quests. (first!)

The Warring Triad, Eden and ShB Role Quest storylines have direct (voiced!) references in the post-Endwalker story, so they're very much worth doing.

Warring Triad and Eden raids have direct ties to the story of the 13th. ⚠️Spoiler warning for Shadowbringers and Endwalker⚠️ Unukalhai and Cyella are survivors of the 13th destruction who were both saved by Elidibus, Mitron and Loghrif. Because of being saved though, they became ageless beings despite being centuries old. Warring Triad has Unukalhai as the quest giver and can only be seen in the 1st after completing that and finishing all the class quests in Shadowbringers. Cyella will reveal she was the Shadowkeeper who fought Ardbert but hasn't donned any battle gear and is practically a civilian now. Unukalhai and Cyella find each other and start to search for a way back to the 13th, so much like Graha Tia, they could become major party members in a future expansion.

The only other thing I'd say to do before Dawntrail is that if you plan to play Pictomancer or Viper pretty early, go ahead and get some poetics ready. Buy the casting or scouting Cryptlurker set pre-patch (because the two jobs will start at 80), and keep some additional poetics around for their lv80 weapons after launch and for the ability to buy Augmented Credendum once they hit level 90 (assuming you don't already have level 90 casting/scouting gear). It won't kill you to wear the coffer gear, but it certainly feels nicer to start a new class at their max item level before diving in to the leveling grind.

I'd like to recommend the Arkasodara Beast Tribe in Endwalker, it's something I'd highly recommend getting to Bloodsworn for the EXP bonus. It should give a nice daily 3 million exp for levels 80 to 90 (assuming they don't reduce it in Dawntrail) Since Viper and Pictomancer will start at level 80 it's gonna help speed up leveling the new jobs a lot.

From EW launch i remember 30min AFK kick timers and 3-4 hour ques to get in and even back then we had DDOS attacks that caused lags, so its just something to be prepared for

chances are it won't be nearly as bad as endwalker was. endwalkers biggest issue was covid and every single person being home 24/7. I feel like this is something people forget

I used to be in the camp of "I don't see what it matters, it doesn't bother me and doesn't effect the actual login queue like some think." That was until I noticed how big a pain it could be to click the retainer bell with all the people and pets around it in Ul'dah at Sapphire, and most of those people were AFK. So stuff like that is a pain. But otherwise, things like characters AFK just sitting on benches or stuff adds to the live atmosphere.

​@@ClassicCalebthat's not the main reason why afk kicks are introduced, they exist to reduce the opinion queues during release. (During endwalker queues ballooned to around 7k on many servers. In thay situation spots being held by people afk four hours isn't very fun)

@@BeanSandwiches That’s what I initially thought, but everything I’ve read is these are *login queues*, not servers being full. Each data center has its own queue system and handles logins in batches, which is what gets congested. People already in the game don’t congest this system, just the act of processing batch logins themselves does.

The Warring Triad recommendation from Yoshi was referring to 6.5 released at that time, which ties into both Triad and Eden side quests. Nothing to do with DT as far as we know (probably). Still a good idea to do it though!

It's possible Warring Triad and Eden are important for the patch content... though his recommendations for EW were throughout the whole expansion so it's hard to say.

It's funny that you mention having a job to 90 AFTER you say finish the MSQ. The MSQ requires you to be level 90 to finish it, though I get your point. I would recommend that folks try and get their gear as close to maxed out as they can. New expansions are balanced around the idea that people have a certain level of gear (due to ilevel requirements for dungeons and trials in the MSQ). If you're beyond that level, you will have a head start in the new gearing process, so you won't need to worry as much about getting upgrades from dungeon drops or side quests. Not ESSENTIAL to do, but very helpful. 650 gear (which is the highest most will have) should last until about level 94 or so before new drops start to outclass it. If you're a crafter, you should maybe think about stocking up on crystals and some crafting materials. It seems materials from the previous expansion are often used in the early recipes of the new expansion, so having a stockpile there can also help. If you plan on playing on launch day, and tend to do a lot of levelling, maybe log off for a few days beforehand to build up your rested XP. While it won't apply the bonus to quests, dungeon boss kills can give a good amount of XP, and getting a bonus to that can help make sure your level is keeping up with the MSQ, especially if you're levelling multiple jobs (such as a DPS and a tank/healer for example). Food buffs for the small XP boost can also help here. Personally, I will TRY and play around launch, but I may to take a sabbatical depending on the queues.

just in case i'd say do the void quests as in the quests that unlock after all the role quests for shadowbringers are completed since yoship said that both the warring triad and eden are recommended im suspecting thats why since unikalhai and an other character from the role quests (not saying just in case of spoilers) are pretty important. oh also if you plan to level picto or viper remember to prep your wondrous tails for a good boost of experience!

dont forget to clean out your inventories. I recommend keeping party chat on so when you get into trials and dungeons you can communicate with your party. also maybe try something new while you wait, never fished? give it a go. Island sanctuary? getting relics from prior expansions? do it! max out the shared fates, max out the beast tribes, they are a great way to level since the new jobs will be starting at 80, and stack up on materia, you def dont want to buy them from market during the launch, you will go broke, also try C&V dungeons.

I don't think Dawntrail launch is gonna be nearly as bad. Endwalker launched at a time when pretty much everyone was jumping ship from wow, and following their favorite streamers over here, so we got a MASSIVE influx of people in an insanely short amount of time, right before an expansion launch. Now most of those wow refugees have returned to their home land, or just quit ffxiv for other reasons, and all the ones that stayed are already here, so no big influx this time. I also believe I remember them being ddos'd pretty hard, which admittedly is likely to happen again, but with all the preparations se is taking right now against the current ddos attacks, I don't think anything will be nearly as bad as it was at the start of endwalker.
