I was looking for a comment like this. I am a suburban kind of guy, but at least I am aware of that. Once I traveled to Japan and shared a room with a now former friend in a rural area. My then-friend noticed a few big bugs that freaked me out a little too, but she insisted on getting someone from the staff to come over and not only kill it, but make sure no others of its kind could come in. The poor man told us in very basic English that those bugs did no harm and tried his best to get of the one present, but also basically said: "We're in the countryside. There is no way to keep out those bugs." My friend was upset with the man - and I was upset with my friend. This was a huge contributing factor to my severing ties with her some time after that trip. Had she only been panicking and saying things in the heat of the moment, that would have been excusable, but she kept insisting she was given poor service. When she said those words to a mutual friend of ours, the image of the man standing on a wobbly chair with a spray bottle and piece of cloth, balancing with out being able to hold himself because two suburban pussies could not deal with a big but harmless bug came to mind and I knew I could not deal with her attitude/superiority complex.

@GoddessPallasAthena4 ай бұрын
LOL Right?? But I'm wondering about CHARLIE'S point of view. I think his story would be scarier. 😅 How about . . . "So, the wife (I'll call her 'Karen,' not her real name) wanted a vacation, and I thought 'OK, not a bad idea. Go to a nice, quiet place, maybe eat at local places, just relax,' you know, a pleasant vacation. She decides she wants to go ALL OUT. I said, 'honey, we shouldn't be spending that much right now,' but she said she would pay for it. OK fine. Turns out, she kept getting her card declined - probably went over the limit again. Prime Day was a few weeks ago and I remember she got a crap ton of boxes coming to the door. Of course she complains about it like it's someone else's fault and INSISTS that I give her my card. I wanted to say no, but she had THAT look, and seriously, I just want some peace in my life. Anyway, she SAID the bank took care of it, but I kind of have my doubts. 🙄 We get on the road. I'd told her we should just call an uber but nooo . . . she wanted to take the car. (I didn't want to pay for the parking) and the damn thing overheats. Luckily, Dave and Sally were good enough to help us out. They don't spend a lot of time with Karen so they have no idea what kind of a nightmare they were sending me to. So, we get to the place, pretty nice, but of course, she's not happy, insisting that she paid for this and that (who knows with her? she probably booked a lesser room and didn't know the difference). She said the walls smelled. I didn't smell anything, just a little bit of dust maybe. So, like she always does, she whines and complains till she gets her way, and we get a nice suite. We go to dinner - which is great, since I'm starved by then. BUT of course 'KAREN" starts up about her food restrictions (hint: she's just a picky eater) and as usual, ruins a good, peaceful dinner. BUT it wouldn't be a dinner with 'Karen' if her whining doesn't cause the staff a lot of trouble. We didn't eat for another half an hour. I could have eaten the tablecloth by then. I wouldn't be surprised (or blame them) if they took their sweet time on purpose. So we go back to the room, I figure we'll rest up now. Some kids were running outside in the hallway, but it wasn't bad. OF COURSE 'Karen' has to make a big deal and embarrass herself, first pestering their dad and again, the poor staff. I swear, it was a little bit noisy, but they're kids - it's not like they were kicking the walls or anything. Well, that put her in a mood and she wouldn't stop b*tching about everything - the kids, the room, yadda yadda. I just wanted to go home. By myself. BUT instead of going home, she INSISTS on changing hotels in the middle of the night. So, I get my exhausted @$$ up and pack. By now, I'm just numb. We get to the new hotel and I feel like I'm pretty much done. Some vacation! Next day I figure, hey, salvage some of the trip, and spend time in the casino. Should be fun. Luckily, 'Karen' decides to go to the spa. FINALLY!! Some peace! But she comes back not long after saying the massage lady was sick. Damnit. So 'Karen' decides to hang out with me. 😵 She starts complaining about not feeling good, and she starts coughing her lungs out. She doesn't cover her cough or try to stay away. Because frankly, she doesn't give a $#!% about anybody. I tell her to get a mask so she won't infect everyone on the damn plane. I figured I'd get home and get some rest. Nope. The damn 'Karen' got me sick. SO I end up in the ER, can't rest for awhile, completely miserable. Now she goes on and on about how it wasn't meant to be, universe . . . whatever nonsense she always goes on about when everything isn't perfect to her impossible standards. Moral of the story: Don't go on vacation with a 'Karen.' "
@dingo16664 ай бұрын
When she asked for 'special' food, I even got annoyed with her. I agree that kids shouldn't be running around at night in a hotel though.

But dark somnium has been at this for 7 years and does all the music and sound design for all his narrations, and works with many top other narrators to put together videos that aren't just narrations but audio masterpieces of emotion, eerieness and scene setting that I haven't ever seen on KZbin.

The story where the guy is comparing his youth like the first season of Stranger Things without the upside down world, dude, I feel you. Although, if we were to go back to 1983 I would only be 2 years old. However, I remember a time where I would ride bikes and go on adventures with my group of girls or we'd be at someone's house playing outside until the street lights came on. Most of our parents wanted the peace and most of the time you didn't hear about abductions, we didn't have an Amber alert back then, but we were also told about stranger danger back then. Plus, we were allowed to walk to the playground by ourselves when we were at least 4-5 years old, shocking isn't it, we wouldn't do that now. Life was simpler back then before technology really boomed, the biggest thing parents hated was MTV and eventually video games. Someone needs to invent that time machine so I can go back to the 80's and relive some of my childhood.

@leslie69384 ай бұрын
I agree, Welling. My sister and her husband went to Cancun about 15 years ago and she wasn’t worried but I held my breath a little until they safely returned home. The day after they got back 4 people were found murdered in Cancun right outside of the touristy hotels/ all-inclusive area. They may have been tourists, don’t remember for sure but they were obviously cartel kills. I remember being aware of a lot of cartel violence in Cancun around then, although many thought the tourist accommodation areas were protected and relatively safe. We lived in Texas so more aware of what was going on in Mexico than most Americans, and where going to Mexico for vacation had been very common for decades.
