80-mile 11,000 ft training at Mt. Hamilton for the Death Ride California. Don't make this mistake..

It's pretty cold at the start of the Death Ride for the descent from Turtle Rock Park to the base of Monitor (1st Pass). I've seen as low as 37 degrees. One more thing, the lowest elevation at any point in the Death Ride is about 5000' so consider the added toughness of being higher in elevation and the climbs are steeper than Hamilton. You will love it!

You can park at this coordinate. 37.38394° N, 121.81619° W. Junction of Alum Rock Ave and Mount Hamilton Rd. Park on the shoulder of Alum Rock Ave.

@@planttheseed2129​​⁠ I stay in San Jose. I don’t know if any Airbnb in that area but there are plenty of small hotels and motels nearby. Many hotels near the San Jose airport and you can start riding your bike from the hotel.
