The 80's were a blast! And it was a more relaxed time in one sense, but there actually WAS huge pressure to be perfect...it was the 80's afterall!! Hair, clothes, accessories - all VERY important in those days,...you didn't see many people in their jammies at Wal-Mart back then.... ;)

0:30--The music in the GE commercial is "Eine Kleine Nachtmusik" by Mozart. 1:00--One out of many great jingles used by Wrigley's over the years. For some strange reason, this one reminds me of the theme song from the late 1980's/early 90's TV show "Perfect Strangers." 7:03 and 8:50--My family's first color TV set (purchased in 1977) was a Zenith. It was a 19", which was considered a standard size for TV screens back then. 7:49--Certs used to be my usual brand of breath mints, but these days I have a hard time finding them in my area.

-Don Rickles as Carpet? His best role ever! -Did that "North Avenue Irregulars" end up being one of those Disney DVDs that get locked up in the "Vault" in an attempt to cash grab? -Dr. Pepper girl was making horse looking faces, lol. Plus I love the visual effect of the Soda floating then she grabs it. And I want the "Throw Your Diet A Curve" song on MP3. -I actually remember when Max Headroom debuted, it was a very odd tv show to have been spun off from a TV add. -Car ad Dance Montages rock!!

I agree with you: the dog falling over in the lottery commercial is PURE HILARITY!! I have shown it to everyone I know and it is now a clasic among my friends & family. Thanks! Who knows if that commercial exists anywhere else anymore?? Do you think companies keep the reels of their commercials forever?

Ahh...the beginning of the end of "Moonlighting". Did Don Rickles need money that bad back then? He couldn't even get them to let him do it as a voiceover? I love how the mom in the lawn care commercial doesn't seem the least bit concerned that the yard just ate her family. I wouldn't date your dispatcher, Certs pilot guy. When you break up, don't expect to work during the day ever again! I had one of those mini-Zeniths. It worked pretty well and lasted about 15 years or so.

The 80’s.. when a 9 inch tv was enough to watch tv on lol
@draveed4 жыл бұрын
For the first half of the 80s, my family's living room TV was a 13 inch set resting on top of a broken B&W set. Then in 1985 my dad came home with a color 25 inch TV with remote. I was blown away! I think my mom kept that TV until everyone was forced to switch to digital antennas.

KGO is my local ABC affiliate. For those of you who watched it in the 80s, I can confirm that Carolyn Johnson is still an anchor there. KGO-TV is fine, but KGO's radio station, which is owned by Cumulus Media instead of ABC nowadays, is a giant clusterfuck, with two format changes in 2011 and just this year that make it very clear Cumulus doesn't give two shits about us listeners, only money.

@jb2134 Oprah does this especially because her talk show during the 80's was way more like an ordinary talk show. From what I've seen it was just as trashy, sensationalistic and exploitative as "Donahue". Her show now is like a visit to Grandma's house.

After watching a few of these, it struck me that Sugar Bear holds some resemblance to Snoop Dogg (or is it the other way around?). I wonder if the cool cereal bear had any influence on the rapper.

You know, theres something I've always wondered abiut commercials... do the majority of the same commercials debut in every state... or it is a whole different lineup for every state? I'd really like to know.
@80sCommercialVault7 жыл бұрын
For network programming, there's an east coast and west coast feed. The commercials will vary between those feeds. For instance, Best Foods Mayonnaise only exists on the west coast, it's Hellmann's on the east coast. Local/regional commercials are inserted in by the local affiliate.
