I would have loved to have seen Tim Curry in that particular production. I did get to see him back in 2005 when he played King Arthur in the Broadway Production of Spamalot. (A musical of Monty Python and the Holy Grail that was written by Python member Eric Idle.) It was amazing to see him perform live, and I feel especially lucky that I got the chance, since he had his stroke a few years later, I think.

Love that you used Tim Curry for your thumbnail. I was lucky enough to see him in "Me and My Girl" twice during that tour.

Another awesome 80's commercial volume as always! When I was a kid, Lucky was my family's go-to supermarket in the 80s & early 90s which had some good times. Nowadays it's Albertsons which is still good.

I was born in 1999, and I'm always a huge fan of the 1980's commercials, because some of the commercials here in the now days feature people who don't even crack a smile but to just give us those serious looks on their faces which I can't stand. I like commercials where people give us those happy, bright smiles in their faces !!!!

@mudvalve yeah, magazines from the 1950's showed tons of smiley faces : )

To answer your question about Grape Nuts Cereal, it's true that there are no nuts or grapes in it. The reason it's called that is because when it was first created, it was made with Grape Sugar and it had a nutty taste.

I vividly remember watching that premiere of Star Trek: The Next Generation, and enjoyed discussing the early appearance of an aged McCoy visiting the Enterprise before its departure. It was a huge deal!

The main thing I remember about Fatal Attraction was the controversy surrounding the ending, which was changed. The ending was originally much more downbeat and depressing, but when it failed with test audiences, it was changed to a more "thriller" style ending with a fight, and the villain coming back after they supposedly died the first time. I remember Roger Ebert compared the new ending to something like out of Friday the 13th. The original ending was eventually released on a DVD, I think. Having seen both, I definitely prefer the original.

In case you’re wondering, the song being sung during the “Me and My Girl” is “The Lambeth Walk”, a Cockney style song that’s rather catchy, and was also a dance in ‘30s Britain.

I remember that old Progresso jingle, I haven't heard it for so many years. At least it's more pleasant than their later ads shaming people for eating Campbell's instead of the "adult" Progresso.

Lol the funny part about Lucky is that it's not Lucky's but even in their ad they say Lucky's. I remember when they went away for a while. We used to go to one in Oakland a lot.

To explain the name Grape-Nuts, the term great refers to the fact that it uses fructose or “grape Sugar” to sweeten it. Nuts… You’ve got me there
