Going after some 80's Dumble tones using the J. Rockett Audio Designs HRM (Hot Rubber Monkey)! The Hot Rubber Monkey emulates a Dumble Overdrive Special but with the HRM EQ mod.
This track was inspired by the late great Mike Casswell and Steve Farris from Mr. Mister!
The pedal is running straight into a clean amp. The way the "Fat" and "Treble" controls interact is very cool; perfect for fattening up single coils or, equally, scooping some of the low end out of humbuckers. A really useful feature for getting parts to sit in the track!

Wow! Astounding playing.👏🏻 Steve Farris had such a great style on those Mr.Mister albums. That Valley Arts guitar that Caswell also owned was really cool. Alan Murphy and Farris are two powerhouses that are still a bit unsung. Thanks for highlighting them both.

Chris. I couldn’t agree with you more brother. Farris. Murphy were powerhouses players. Shame we don’t here much of Farris any longer. As far as Richard goes. We are looking at one hell of a Stella player. He belongs in the same category and we need to hear more of him play and tour.

Thanks so much, Chris! I've recently got into Alan Murphy- he was incredible, man. What a loss. I'm planning on doing a proper Session Heroes episode on each of them.

@@jayboy6895 That's very kind of you, man - thanks so much. I'd love to be able to gig this kinda stuff. I'm actually talking to a friend of mine about putting something together so we'll see... And yeah, it is certainly a shame we don't hear more from Mr Farris. I thought his Tone Talk interview was awesome though!

Fantastic playing and tones. I'm not really familiar with Mr Mister, except Kyrie and Broken Wings. But I love this composition 🙂

Criminally overlooked channel! Masterful sound production, great phrasing (no stupid shred and modern prog stuff), just what the doctor ordered. Such high quality guitar content needs to be introduced to a wider audience. Please continue to share your knowledge and experience with us.

That truly means a lot, man- thank you! This channel has definitely been a slow burn thing but I truly love making these videos and am lucky that the audience I've got is made up of like-minded, nice folks! Many thanks, Rich

Richard, you are my favorite player to listen to! You have that unique ability to take me someplace else when I hear your songs. Your approach has so much "atmosphere" and "dimension." Thank you!

Brilliant! Do you own guitars with Floyd Rose systems? what’s your feeling on them?

I have an old Ibanez Universe with a Floyd. Recently I've had a real longing for a Strat with one! Once they're set up properly they're great!

Love the layering of the Strat with PRS too - best of both worlds. When I got my Custom 24, I was ready to sell my Fenders but it really is just a different kind of great
