I think it’s so wonderful that you are doing all this as a family; such a good learning experience for the kids. They grow up so fast, and they’ll have these memories forever. Problem solving is a part of life, and the grown-ups on your journeys are such good role models. Bless you all!

Thanks for this episode and the Africa season. I commend you for leaving the comfort of the USA and coming to this remote part of the world to see these vast and beautiful natural zones that exist outside the Western paradigm. Thank you for understanding the significance of being on top of Van Zyl’s pass looking over the vast Marienfluss that is so remote and difficult to get to.

Absolutely loving this series on so many levels, mostly the experiences with locals showing how worlds apart they are from what we are familiar with. Ten hour walk to school and no idea how to put a seat belt on. And the Botswana episode with the no bathing, deodorant from plants and a carved wooden pillow. These are the biggest takeaways for me. The scenery and wildlife (although sparse in Namibia) also is stunning and as diverse as the people. And as always, the XO team do a masterful job of delivering to us consumers. Thank you from Australia.

Mysteries of the mind as Jim Rhon would say lol and i say we, because i feel like part of the family and that im with you guys on this adventure. Something you guy’s should consider if you do another Africa trip, is get a local specialist to buy and build expedition vehicles for you in SA, and you could sell them after your trip. It might actually work out cheaper, and there are some really good people who know how to build vehicles for Africa overlanding. Stood for thought.

I used to be a glazier (glass guy) and next time you can just VERY DELICATELY tape up the shattered glass and then reinforce it with another layer or 3 of more tape. We used to do that all the time to uninstall a big ol shattered commercial window in one piece. Still great work either way.

Since I have realized a father works hard to teach his children. One thing the boys needs to take away is gratitude and humility. Those local children sure didn't choose to be in that position and geographic location. And also realise how hard is it to can out that situation with resources, knowledge and everything one is gonna need to make it in life

Most likely the pressurisation of the cabin, perhaps it could be used some strait branches from the sticks bushes to set up like a X type of shape from corner to corner and then cover both sides in tape to give some integrity to the bag or tape for the broken window

Wen a rip or damaged hose brake or get damaged like that, you can cut off at the damaged section and rejoin with a socket sides (deep sockets are very even and perfect for those jerry-rig ups) the matches the sides of the hose with the problem using some hose clamps of course, that is thinking you do not carry small pieces of pipe to re-join damaged hoses in case of a emergency such this one

That Trailer that you passed have been there since before 2018 when we went past it. on the shot that the video ended, there is now a completely stripped Landcruiser lying there at the bottom who had a small misjudgment and rolled down into the travene. FYI, we have done that pass in pouring rain in bone stock vehicles, without taking damage. From a overlanders perspective it is a extremely difficult pass. From a more hardcore 4x4 junki perspective it is fairly low level difficulty pass and obstacles. The Remoteness of the pass is amazing.. (Baboons Pass, Letsetele Pass those are difficult passes)

5:17: Can you comments on what's in the "Truck Book?" Is it maintenance records? Wiring diagrams? I think you all were keeping the gas log separate. I turned one of those 'alphabetical' accordion binders into the maintenance record keeper for my Frontier. Each 'letter' is now 5,000 miles. In 'letter A' I have the overall maintenance schedule plus the purchase info, as well as some basic info about the truck (nut torque specs, lift points, trailer wiring diagram). I've done the same for my wife's Highlander and my kids Camry. I have a separate fuel log (a little 'Write in the Rain') book.

Hi, II have enjoyed these episodes of your Africa adventure. Sadly, like so many travelers, too little time is taken to appreciate places and surroundings - it's been a "fast" safari (journey) & expeditions I lead focus on the "slow". Time taken to immerse in the people and places. If ever you do return to Africa and wish to explore places like Zambia, Zimbabwe and Malawi in a slower style and are in need of an experienced guide for those places then perhaps making contact is an idea. For now, "safari njema".

I love yall’s series!! Makes my dreams a little bigger every time there is a new episode! Random thought about the back glass though…any chance there is to much weight on the roof for how bouncy the roads are? Maybe the combination of the roof weight and the compression of the bounce is causing the body to compress or twist just enough to shatter the glass? Just an idea

Love these adventures you guys are on but if you're going to be tackling this kind of terrain you should really be running 37s. It's too bad that 37s are too much for Toyotas ;) since they're pretty much the benchmark these days for overlanding. In any case, keep up the good work.
