With a 1:46 half I am not impressed and confused by this workout.. It is obvious that you lack an aerobic base. When I was 40 years old as a member of the Gulf Winds Track Club we ran 12 x 400 in 68 every Monday afternoon with 1 minutes rest between each interval. Some times we would run the last 2 in 66 or 67. Then a 3 mile warm down. Before the 400s 5 x 100 at a faster pace to loosen up. You looked more tired than me when finished. At that time I could run a mile in the 4:50s. Not any faster as I was not yet doing my 16 x 200 in sets of 4 with each set progressively faster. I was in 16:30 5K shape and a full time law student. Again, as a 1:46 half miler and 49.1 in the 400H what was the purpose of the workout? Is this the start of building a base early season?

Definitely don’t have an impressive aerobic base so it’s good news I run the 800 and not the 5k 😅

If you were able to average 67-68 for twelve 400s, you would at least be in 4:30 shape.. 4:50 makes no sense..

@@robinsonxiang8169 Really. When 40 years old. There were 8-12 guys in that group at FSU in the Gulf Winds Track Club front group and every one of them were younger and way faster milers. At the time I did run a 16:36 5K on hills. I have run a 4:20 when 21. I am sure I could have run faster given the workouts we were doing. It was a time trial for fun in college as many of us had slower high school mile times and wanted to run 4:20 or better. .In high schoolmI ran the exact same 12 x440s in 66-70s and my best mile was 4:36. I just did not have the same raw speed as my teammates until I was older. I was the 7th best miler on my high school team.

@@drunkhippo21 The truth hurts doesn't it. I just look at the times of the intervals and rest. They speak for themselves.

I am moving to 800 from 400 so I am better at shorter faster reps 👍🏼

Why do you guys run backwards on the track? Is it for rhythm running or pace working ?
@Cass-Elliott8 ай бұрын
We only do it sometimes. I think it’s to balance out the muscles and keep everything symmetrical

what kind of track is that? or are you just trying to lessen the curve impact to joints to use slithly larger radius on the corners? or is it just short track?
