I am amazed at the quality of the video and audio. Considering how old the tapes would be by now.

I remember the JcPenney's Auto Center. They sold the autocenter to Firestone back in 83. I use to work at JCP in the early 90s. There was a Battery that JCP sold that had a lifetime warranty, they were still coming to the store in 93 to get a credit for a new battery, they would give them voucher, they are stilling doing it to this day...

3:30--Pizza Hut was better back then. Just seeing this commercial makes me hungry for the Pizza Hut pizza of my youth! 6:51--I believe Sha Na Na performed a retro set at the original Woodstock festival in 1969. Then in the 1970's they had their own TV show which brought back the great music of the early rock and roll era. 8:37--I don't remember J.C. Penney Auto Centers, although I do recall that they sold electronics back then. Maybe only certain Penney's stores had the auto centers. 9:06--Certs were my "go-to" brand of breath mints for years, but I can't seem to find them in my area anymore.

I never watched Midnight Express, but I know that I loved the theme song. The NWA tag champions, The Midnight Express used the movie's theme as their entrance music.

I love the jingles! They hardly have jingles anymore in this day and age. With the exception of Coca-Cola.

I miss jingles, there’s not a lot of that anymore.

Agreed; it's one reason why the 1970's and 80's were the golden age of TV commercials IMHO.

The local booth V/O was Bill Rippe. "Sha Na Na" promo was V/O'd by Vic Roby. Oh, and now that you mention it, Doug "Cosmo" Clifford did look a bit like Mr. Henson . . .

Just like the jingle said, I really never heard of King Karol and I was from the New York area! I had no idea Circus was around in the 70s, my friends got the magazine during the grunge years and they always featured Nirvana in some way.

Maybe that's where the Tombstone ad guys got the idea from.

The French commonly used firing squads in the foreign legion ca. WWI as a method of executing prisoners or deserters. It's a common trope used in popular culture, as is the idea of granting a prisoner a "last request".

4:42 - "I'm from Missouri, and you'll have to show me"...I don't get this. What does her being from Missouri have to do with anything? Are they experts in greasy kitchen dirt over there?

Didn't a U.S. President (or some prominent politician) say that back in the 19th century? I heard that was how Missouri acquired that nickname.
