Indeed. With the S21 and S22 series, they even removed the SD card reader, and the A53 5G also has no headphone jack (and no charger). I think the best modern flagship Samsung with all features was the S9/S10 series, with things slowly going south from there.

@@denny1527 The s10 still had the heart rate sensor (minus the s10e), still had the notification light (via amoled ring light around the punch hole) and it had the ultrasonic fingerprint scanner (more accurate than the optical scanner found on other under display phones) I also think the iris scanner is a bit of a gimmick since Samsung is known for being the tech company with the most unusual products like the galaxy beam with was a phone with a built in projector, the galaxy round which was a phone with a display curved inwards and the zoom s4 which was a phone with the really big camera, all of which didn't sell well. @TheSpotify952 жыл бұрын
That was a nice easy repair, from what I saw - I don't see why Ifixit has to give these Samsung phones a low repair score when replacing a display, back glass and battery is relatively straightforward with the right tools in hand. There's only one type of screw used, and no software locks to be seen in sight.
@HNedel2 жыл бұрын
It’s difficult to open them without cracking the back glass, the battery has no pull tabs so it will get bent or damaged when removed. And the display costs more than a used working phone. Although this might not factor in the score. While it’s better than an iphone, it doesn’t compare with their older phones like the S2 on repairability.
@AtomSquirrel2 жыл бұрын
I don't know why they give the iPhone a high repairability score. They lock everything to the phone. Can't change your battery without a message popping up and battery health being disabled. Can't change the screen without it messing up true tone. They may be easy to take apart, but they are technically impossible to repair without being able to register the new parts.
@joveymcjupi44552 жыл бұрын
It's because they bought a screen with a frame already attached to it. The screen came with a whole housing. Granted the housing of this phone is really messed up, but I've seen Hugh do the same thing for phones that have good housings as well, unfortunately. If you try to use your own phone's housing, that means you need a ton of glue and a ton of patience to remove the old screen which will definitely shatter into a million pieces. iFixit takes that into account. Hugh Jeffreys doesn't, for some reason.
@SeoWoojin552 жыл бұрын
Its pretty obvious. Samsung does not pay IFixit while Apple has always had a shady relationship with iFixit. If Samsung paid ifixit too, the scores would be high. I never trusted Ifixits repair guides tbh

Despite its relatively lukewarm reception upom release, I still really like the Galaxy S20 Ultra (my current phone) and it still feels just as sleek and modern as any other phone even 3 years later. @@karmakaze9972 Yeah Samsung is really bad when it comes to phone support. Before the S20 (or maybe S10?) line of phones, they only supported their phones for *two* years! Nowadays they support them for 4 at least, but it's still nowhere near Apple's 6 years of support.
