That scraping was with a piece of silicon mounted on a scraper blade. (Have one here myself somewhere.) The 3 heating cycles is according the industrie. In practice, some boards, or even BGA's, might still work after 8 or even more heath cyles and/or reballs. Depends on the quality of the PCB, BGA, used process, skills of technician...

Well explained but people should not be afraid to share their profile. They can tell people with caution that you can try my profile but you will need to adjust to suit your needs. Some treat profiles like the Holy grail and top secret and the clichés comes out cannot share and excuses like ambient temeperature, not all machines are the same and so many excuses. They can just say it is mine and I am not sharing and they have the right to but the excuses gets me. We all have to learn and novices will soon realise that it does not work just copying profile and would need as you said adjustment, build experience, skill and hard work to suit them. A lot of trial and error required before nailing it.
