@Metqa Жыл бұрын
Kudos, me too! Except a bug got to my plants and chewed the roots away so I must start over. But not a bad investment for 50 cents, eh? I'm growing lettuce and bok choi in a passive hydroponic set up... basically anything that holds water! I've got recycled almond milk jugs, soda bottles, milk jugs, dollar tree storage totes all growing greens for me. I tossed some onion roots in a compost pile and they grew back beautiful towering columns. Being somewhat self sufficient is a great feeling, innit?

It's a good idea, if you can do it. It's important to note, though, that a lot of people don't have access to sun in their homes. If you're spending 40 dollars for a weeks worth of food for a whole family, you probably aren't living in a sunlit single family home with a yard, or a well windowed penthouse. There's a fair chance your in a small apartment, with small windows, and no yard. You may also be at the basement level, where all of the natural light is shaded by other buildings and the sidewalk.
@lisam2795 Жыл бұрын
@@spacecaptain9188They will still grown in any window ledge! I live with little sunlight, but they don't need much. I just stick them in a glass of water and they grow very well! If you don't have any windows at all, a small grow bulb is pretty cheap, too.

Yeah, my favorite easiest healthiest food has become a luxury item. People thought I was daft when I stocked up on tuna at 33 cents a can. I bought a whole case. Now that eggs are borderline unaffordable, I'm supplementing my meals with canned tuna that was on sale for the current cost of a single egg! From 8 cents to 33 cents each, this bird flu really messed things up. Luckily, the broiler birds are less affected by the illness and the price of chicken meat did not similarly sky rocket.

A tip for cheaper chaffles- I use the “white bread chaffle” recipe and it doesn’t use any cheese! It’s egg almond flour baking powder and mayo (I also add garlic salt). I usually triple the recipe and try to make like 10 at a time. Then I do all open face sandwiches aka only use one chaffle for each sandwich. I use a piece of sliced cheese on top of the ingredients (deli meat, spinach, etc) to help hold it together for eating.

Hi. This was my introduction to budgeting for a keto friendly grocery shopping trip. Thank you very much. I wanted to mention that you shouldn’t lock the cover on your slow cooker while it’s cooking. Those locks are for portability without sloshing. If you’ve heard this 100 times before, forgive me. I have the same slow cooker.

I haven't watched this yet, but am happy to see this. I am a disabled senior on a fixed income and unable to work even a part-time job to supplement my income, as much as I want to (and need to). Grocery prices are soaring, so I won't expect the $40 cost from a year ago, but I look forward to learning from you on how to eat the keto way on a low budget. Thx from Washington state!

This is awesome! I used this for meal prep tonight and will enjoy having great meals all week! I live alone so this was too much food, but freezing the extra chicken and pork plus tweeking recipe size. I work 13 HR shifts as a nurse, three to four days in a row, so this is awesome to do ahead. I've been surviving on work days eating weird crap like commercial jerky and cheese sticks... Please do this again!! Thanks so much!!

In the spirit of 'making it my own' I use 2 crock pots, oven and stove top - as needed - for a week's work of meals. Don't have an instant pot or other specialty cookers. And I cook only for myself so my groceries may be more varied, but she's really good with her recipes. 😃

I am very impressed with meal prep and food haul. One thing I always do, is before cooking meat in crock pot or instant pot I sear the meat to add more flavor to the final product. But you kick the whole meal prep out of the ball park !!! WTG.

This was awesome especially since my family lives off Walmart groceries but I’ve been meal planning a month at a time and we pick up groceries 1-2x/month because we live in a rural area. This video gave me some great ideas for April! Thank you so much. If I can keep this theme I can cut our budget by 2/3rds! 👍🏻I’m going to try! My family needs to eat healthier foods for sure. I love to batch cook as well so this inspires me to get back to it! 😁I’m also less afraid to cook Keto for my family (I’m tired of cooking a main dish then all their unhealthy sides) and it’s a budget-buster habit for sure as well as a draw on my sanity. This should help!

I really enjoyed your plan, I am fortunate enough to not have to budget but I did the research for a struggling staff member and boy oh boy was I impressed by you and your ingenuity. I'm from South Africa, a very impoverished country with lots of corruption and therefore many people struggle. The sad thing is they are ruining their health with a high carb diet, which will lead to more heartache later in their lives. Thank you thank you for this wonderful video.
