I used to live in a home with a taylor made outdoor wood furnace which was a great furnace. Sadly, I had a 60' fall in the military from a repelling tower. At the time didn't break a bone... age 19. It did cause issues but nothing major. during a operation at a va hospital they had problems. The bone graft they were inserting broke and cut into the S1 nerve root at my spinal cord. So long story short my wood cutting days were done. I can remember watching my wife, brother and brother in law unloading wood near the stove. A neighbor down the road heard about what happened to me. He had about 20 ricks of wood split and piled up. He gave that wood to us for a little of nothing. Without good friends and strong family we would have been in trouble that year. It is always good to help others when you can. You don't know when you will need the help in return.

Knowing how to split wood you made it work fine though. Thanks for sharing with us and keep enjoying time with the OLD FOLKS , keeps us older folks happy 😃. Fred.

Good morning (barely) from MidMo. Wife and I are sitting on the screened porch enjoying the light rain after the big rain last night. Fun watching you help your ‘old’ old friend on the wood. I bet you guys are within a coupe-three years of the same age? 🤔 His good neighbor looked like he could have split those logs without any tools. Built like a pro tight end or D end. Anyhow, you and Doug must be really good friends, based on you driving that far to help and the awesome banter!

If you are/were a Johnny Carson fan, the statement about your friend being old, begs the question "how old is he" (ahh, no need to answer that), just popped into my head when you said it. And when you arrived on scene at Doug's place, the banter back and forth revealed the good friendship that you have with him, and I love it. The kind of stuff my friends and I engage in... Is Doug the gentleman with an awesome old barn...? Great video sir, Thank you.

Hey Mike, Great video 👍 on helping a "OLD" friend out. You all are young pups. I just turned 69 last week and just came in from splitting up a giant ash tree. Went to the basement to cool down for a bit and watched your video 👍 made me laugh 😂 HATE ELM! with a passion. Although the 28" Ash rounds kicked my butt they're better than that nasty Elm. My homemade log splitter is still getting it done after 32 years. I did have to replace the 8 hp Briggs this year. Just plume wore it out after 32 years. Put on a 8hp PREDATOR and it's splitting like new again. "SPLITTING WOOD", it's my therapy! Hopefully I will be doing it another 20 years. The Wolfe Ridge splitter is a dream machine! On the other hand my homemade splitter has split 100's of cords of wood and cost me about $250 when I built it. The new motor almost cost me that much. Fun video and a great cause to support. Time to go sweat some more.... only 89 today! Peace BROTHERS AND SISTERS 🙏💙

I thought about the reasons for Mike including his good deed in his daily stories of what he did that day. I think it's important to lead by example, and going out of one's way to help a friend out is certainly a good example of just what one does. Sponsoring a kid's team to keep alive the sport you love is another. Mike is an example of a typical good American. We need these examples to remind us of what we Americans are about. We have too many examples that bombard us on a daily basis of failed lives. I applaud Mike's report on a simple good deed that many folks do on a typical Saturday. Mike is not alone in these deeds, but I'm glad that he recorded it.
