That patch must have been a reminder every day of what he can’t handle himself anymore. You literally took the shame away

Unfortunately there are some people that don’t care. That “free” demonstration test patch would of only been the start of it if they said yes to them. Next it will be the gutters, then while they are up there you need a roof etc. And it will all be “cheaper” for cash. People like that are just thieves who carry out part of a service for extortionate prices and only prey on the vulnerable. There are no words to describe my contempt for these individuals

Not sure of the details of the actual laws there, but IMHO doing test patches like this without permission should be prosecuted as vandalism. It doesn't matter if it's technically "cleaning" or not, it is still deliberately altering the appearance of the property without the owner's permission and against their will.

He got upset that some other people came and try to make some money showing what they can do. How they clean drive ways. Than he did exactly the same definitely not for free. Well job still not finished. He did not fill gaps and cracks with cement so all dirt will come back after couple rains. Same time making surface damaged with water pressure, more porous and rough so dirt will stick faster and better. To do this job you have to yous cleaning fluids and use water jet short as possible in one spot. May looks good but this is not proper job.

It’s not just the elderly it’s everyone who is stuck at home who needs help. I’m disabled now and before when I could keep up with maintenance no one knocked on my door unless they saw me outside and they were doing a job next door, now they knock all the time and constantly ask you to at least let them quote because you can’t say you don’t want anything done without me quoting…. I might be able to give you a price that fits… forgetting that I may not want it done or can’t afford it no matter what the price because benefits don’t cover that sort of cost

Gloves get in the way. It's a lot easier and quicker to not use gloves I've always found when I did gardening full time. Your hands get use to it after a few weeks.

If you are truly interested please look for that lonely elderly person to visit once a week. It means so much. You will have to set boundaries of course. Lonely people can become clingy because they are afraid of being abandoned. The need is great for listeners.

If anyone came and did a test patch on my drive without asking they would be the last people I’d ever consider to do the work. By the way legally I’m sure you would have been okay to clean his side of the neighbours fence as long as you didn’t damage it. I suppose it’s best to be cautious.

Depends exactly where the property line is.The wall is likely 100% on the neighbors side, so even what's facing out can't be touched without permission. You would have to know for sure it was a shared fence straddling the property line to clean one side.
