I like these videos on kinda low-end locks. Aside from pen testers and people parcticing locksport, these are the the kinds of locks most people will buy, because they're affordable and "look tough" in a photo. Basically, an attack is the only way to review a product designed to withstand attacks.

Actually looking at one right now. Considering it's in a town of around 3,000 in a bedroom community to the big city in Kansas that isn't on I-70, I doubt the kids are roaming around prepared to pick a dual sidebar lock, carrying battery powered angle grinders, or torches or other destructive tools. The fact it can be opened with a tension wrench and a thin hook gives me hope for that day my son loses the key. It comes with a code tag, which I guess you could use to get another key, but at this price point why bother. Definitely going to go with a disc detainer lock of higher quality when I get off my crippled hind end and start riding my bike again which is a 6061 Al 24" cruiser class dirt racer. I have seen what comparable bikes sell for, and it's not trivial.
@kdawson0202793 жыл бұрын
Also, mine seems to have more heft. The plastic is for sure molded around the lock body, but looks a little more substantial than yours. The U section is the same, but the lock body has considerable weight. Some of it is definitely made of cast Chinesium alloy and a sledge might do it in but it will keep honest people honest for now.

Honestly it is more about courtesy that "look I have my bike locked please don't steal it Mr or Mrs or they/them" If someone really wants to steal it they will do it one way or the another. I mean lets say you might go out cycling on a routine to a place and someone can track you and see what time you come, how long is your bike on standby and study the perfect opportunity to get the gold. Unless it is police registering of your cycle or a strong moral community that watch outs on suspicious folks who pick cycles one is really helpless all by themselves. Honestly people should be rewarded monetarily if they notice and take actions against people who are very evidently out in the open in a public space stealing a bike. That way one can ensure a strong community safety net. .
