Big thumbs up to Chris Holbrook. Him and his late father built several race engines for me over the years. I've always felt the coyote engines made more hp per cubic inch than any other factory American engine. Chris is doing something I've always hoped Ford would do - and more cubic inches to the coyote. Imagine to power if it equaled in size to the Hemis and L/Ss.

There is no "351 based Coyote." The 4.6, 5.4, and 5.8 liter motors are all classified by Ford as "Modular Motors." They have nothing to do with the Coyote, Voodoo, or Predator motors. The maximum bore x stroke of a Coyote is 5.6 liters, however, no one does it because the block would be so weakened. 5.3 liters seems to be the limit that guys are comfortable with on a stock Coyote and even then sleeves have to be used. Ford makes a cast iron Coyote block named "Werewolf" for serious racers. It's designed to handle up to 2,000 horsepower and can be bored to 3.74 inches and stroked to 3.89 inches for a maximum displacement of 5.6 liters.

@@3pedalfox people have made 1000 whp on stock motor i wouldn't really call that the rule tho just cause some guys on the net have made 4 digit power to the tires on stock motors dont mean its the set rule that is usually serious guys really pushing the envelope and they normally have money for a built motor if things go south. I love ford and I love coyotes but I think acting like 1000 wheel is normal safe hp for any stock coyote os a little optimistic. I think 800 would he considered pretty safe with good fuel and tune on gen 2/3 coyotes but yes some have pushed 1000+ usually with turbos. Another thing all 800 whp builds aren't created equal. Meaning you can't just be like oh who needs the cubes this coyote made 850 hp all motor...this is basically a fully built race motor and is very aggressive...the powerband wouldn't exactly be street friendly whereas if you has a built 7.3 at that power level its gonna be alot more drivable and enjoyable on the street with a much better overall powerband. There is def a place for the 7.3 which is badass in its own right just different. The coyote guys kinda act defensive about the 7.3 like they're afraid it's taking their glory or something lol...I say the more the marrier as far as badass ford powerplants. Both engines are great and can make a shit ton of power. There is more to a build than just the peak hp and how fast it runs street going cars usually want better powerbands and average power which is easier to get with cubes or forced induction let alone both lol. Just my .02
@midnight347
@midnight347 3 жыл бұрын
Also it made 850 horse 500 something torque that is good for the qubes but a 7.3 at this power level is gonna dwarf that in the torque department so I wouldn't exactly say no need for a 7.3 lol. 327ci laying down 850hp all motor and it was still making power at 7800 rpm. Chevy, Mopar, or Ford don’t matter the fact is the coyote is one of the baddest motors to have ever been put in a production vehicle.

Mopar is the only ones in the dust nowadays. Chevy has NA 427 inch LS7s that with similar money spent on mods make, just under a 1,000 HP, and ford has Coyotes with 327 inches NA making just under 900. Where's Mopar? A supercharged 398 making a wimpy 800HP in a vehicle that weighs 5,000lbs 🤣

Before sleeving they could certainly cut some coolant track in the block, but why? It's a track motor only. It'll run maximum 2 minutes at idle and possibly 5 seconds at full power. They'll shut it down immediately after the run and ice it down to get it ready for the next pass.

$ per $ LS wins. Coyote engines have MORE capabilities per liter(or cubic inch), there's no denying 4 valves can flow more than 2. Coyotes however cannot go above 350 CI (which some hotrodders might consider a flaw since there is NO replacement for displacement, yes boost is adding "displacement") whereas (honestly the best competitor is a LS7, which came out in 2006 VS 2010 for coyote) lS7s can reach 450CI. Weight between the two is close with LS7 slightly lighter, LS7 also has much lower center of gravity. Point is per pound & per dollar, LS wins. Per cubic inch Coyote all day long! Im a Chevy &Ford guy, so the better question is where's dodge, the red headed step children, 398 cubic inches SUPERCHARGED barely making 800HP 🤣🤣 love beating down hell[pussycats] with my built NA 427 LS7 AND my built NA 327 Coyote 👍
