seeing that cub at the end all alone broke my heart

Dam.... Such a tightrope for mama bears.😬 They NEED the fish...it's vital, especially when they're nursing cubs, but Dam if it ain't a gamble. Those adult male bears don't play. Even with the strength that a protective mama bear has, that male bear slapped her down like a doll. They r just crazy strong and vicious. But I love em...😏

I wish these videos would say in the title if any of these bears get killed. I would choose not to watch as I find it very upsetting. I know it happens & its nature, & it makes me look like an idiot but I just really don't want to see it.

402's Cub was killed by 856 but it is not shown on the video, however knowing that is what happens makes the last moment when the Cub is wandering around by itself distressing.

It's not "intelligence". It's pure instinct.

Isn't one of these cubs 503 that was adopted by Holly?

@@ci316-This liter was 2011. 402 lost all 3 COY by spring of 2012. 503 was 402’s 2013 litter. He was the lone survivor out of 3 by spring of 2014 but, 402 emancipated 503 in early July.

@@violetg7315 seems odd she repeatedly loses all of her cubs. Maybe being a mother isn’t her thing. And 856 just isn’t a bear w a special personality, he must have something like pain we can’t see to make him want to hunt down and hurt cubs like he does
@violetg731510 ай бұрын
@@glittergrl71- It is very difficult to be a sow who is attracted by the most dominant boar at the falls. Those two have love and hate relationship. 402 has had 8 litters. Sure, she has lost many of her cubs but also has had success to emancipate many. Many of her offsprings are pretty big very much likely 856 is their father. It is tough out there to raise cubs!

There is a fair bit of controversy about 856in regard to cubs. Its pointed out by a few(especially moderators on chats) that we shouldn't judge bears by Human morals/ethics. OK but I've noticed that this isn't applied consistently. Take 435 Holly for example. She is very popular bear and many cite how she adopted 503 back in 2013 as a reason if not the main reason why they like Holly but is this not judging a bear by human standards of ethics and morals? The difference in this case is the ethics and morals are a positive judgement of Holly in contrast to the negative judgement some may have in regard to Male bears that kill cubs. Some might say that we need to look at the big picture which is conservation. They might point out that focusing on bears that kill cubs could give the public a negative view about bears which in the long run could make it more difficult to fight for bear habitat or to stop legislation that opens up hunting bears in wilderness areas or even(god forbid) in the future, National Parks. I think this is the more effective argument rather than the the inconsistent one about how we shouldn't judge bears by human standards of good and bad.

I just don't understand why the Mother puts the Cubs in so much danger by bringing them to the falls to fish. I noticed the Mother bears get real irresponsible when looking for FOOD. THAT'S NORMALLY WHEN THEY LOSE CUBS, TRYING TO FEED AND THAT'S ALL DAY EVERYDAY
@kailyn289410 ай бұрын
It's survival, it's not just male bear that go into torpor for winter. She and her cubs need to feed to build up their fat reserves for hibernation. It's about their long term survival.

#1: Mom needs to eat to take care of those cubs. #2: Cubs need to learn where and how to get food. They learn that by mom taking them where it is and showing them how to get it. #3: Calling them "irresponsible" is a human value and it's an example of anthropomorphizing (putting a human expectation on an animal that isn't a human). Bear moms are doing the best they can from instinct and experience, and expecting them to see it from a human perspective is pointless.
