Can we get a V5 Climber to V7 in just one session?
Plateau in climbing can be hard to deal with but there are some great things that we talk about in this video that will help you push past them.

So hyped to see Louis incrementally get closer to sticking the move and then sending it all the way. I can send most V6s in a session or two but I only have one V7 under my belt yet. I feel like I need to adobt the projecting mentality and step up my game!

The stuff about resting more between attempts was great advice. As Louis admitted, you largely rush because you feel the muscle memory will dial in better if you immediately try again. But maybe if you’re spamming the not-quite-right movement pattern coz you’re too tired to fully execute then you might be training your body to fall short anyway, like reinforcing failure, on top of the fact you’re digging an ever deeper hole of fatigue? Trouble is, as a middle aged dad of small kids, I’m lucky if I get to the gym once per week, and I’m lucky if I can stay there for one full hour including warm up. So I’m probably doomed to never rest or progress in my frantic narrow windows of opportunity at the gym!
@louisdown1506
@louisdown1506 7 ай бұрын
I have to say it’s rare for me to have a session over 1h / 1h30, resting is obviously needed but I think you should listen to your body either way
@audiojck1
@audiojck1 7 ай бұрын
Also warm up at home 😉 At least that's what I do. I just throw in some rubber band exercises at home and already do some hangs on the Hangboard. Then cycle to the gym, do some easy boulders and can start into the session.
@DanAddison
@DanAddison 7 ай бұрын
@@audiojck1 good shout. Easier said than done in this madhouse but I do run to the gym (a mile or so) which is a great head start. Other than that it’s just lots of opportunistic stretching and 5min ‘exercise snacks’ peppered throughout my week, to try to maintain basic strength/flexibility/resilience so that i have half a chance of surviving intact during my occasional bursts of intense climbing!
@audiojck1
@audiojck1 6 ай бұрын
@@DanAddison addmittedly this used to work great, but due to workload and flu season has also been suboptimal the last weeks. But it actually works pretty well, to do some exercises at home before heading out to the gym. I just didn't find a lot of time to go to the gym lately.

Given how easily he climbed a V5 and a fake V6 at the start, it's probably not that surprising. I can usually climb V5 after quite a few attempts (sometimes after multiple sessions), so I guess I consider myself a V5 climber - but clearly this guy is better than a V5 climber!

You are hella strong, theres no denying that, but i associate neither pro nor amateur with you... What a great feedback. My suggestion would be to maybe just do this title with I, although it doesnt catch the attention of new viewers just aswell, which i understand... HMM Crusher? V11 Climber teaches Amateuer, how far can he get? I hope this doesnt feel like "bad" feedback... yea. :)

Josh i realy like your channel but there is one problem and that is the video name i wouldn't say you're a proffesional climber i would change the video title into advanced climber because i don't think you're in the rank of proffesional yet (but thats my opinion of course) because a professional trains every day to almost every day i have much experience in that because i am almost everyday in my gym and did every route in the gym but one and if i see you struggle on a 7a+ than i don't think you're in that league yet but it's very close dough but i also go to other gyms and flash everything under 7b and i flash much of the 7b too and 7b+ and 7c is something i just project a bit but i ussualy do it in 2 sessions and i project 7c+ to 8a on kilterboard and i am 1st right now in my gym and i do competitions i think that is something a professional would do so if you do that i think the professional climber title would fit to you but it ussualy looks as if you're doing it more for fun than doing it sirous like louis or magnus midtbø so thats why i don't think the title fits for you but remember you're still a good climber.
@JoshRundle
@JoshRundle 7 ай бұрын
Hi, thanks so much for your comment I really appreciate your feedback. I agree I am not on a professional level climber. I do take it very seriously but that is mostly off camera. I’ve climbed up to 8c sport route in the last year which is good but like you say not a pro level. The reason I called myself a pro is because climbing is my profession and how I make my living. In my eyes pro does not mean an elite climber that is one of the best in the world. The definition of pro is someone who makes a living off a sport, it’s not that relevant to level. I did have some reservations about calling myself a pro but at the time it is all I could come up with that fit under the 60 characters KZbin title limit, which is why I didn’t go for advanced.
@Thomassloosclimbing

@@JoshRundle yeah understandable i do think bouldering competitions national or world wide need to be paid more for people who doesn't get sponsord but i think people who climb like 7c+ or higher are proffesional climbers even do they maybe don't make a living out of climbing i see them in that way myself but i don't think it is fair to pay a football pro 1 milion dollars and a boulderer who climbes national €500 if the person is first place I think i am a pretty good climber myself and i am in the proffesional league but i can't make a living out of it also because i am 16 but ok lmao😂 And because bouldering just doesn't get paid that well but my goal is to be the same as louis or magnus midtbø coaching with climbing and doing 8b+ to 8c outside traveling the world but who knows maybe we can have a collab after a few years who knows.
