I just evaluated the QN90B and the QN900B, both with 1204 firmware, and I didn’t see any protracted blooming issues. In fact, the QN900B had some of the best backlight control I’ve seen in any LCD TV. Of course, this was AT Samsung, and was a hand-picked sample. But it was also on the 1204 firmware, so it is possible for them to offer excellent performance.

I just recently got the QN95B and blooming is no issue with normal content. Of course there is content out there were you can see it but still not a problem IMO.
@mchambliss22 жыл бұрын
The only time I really see blooming on the 900B is where you're watching narrow black bars like IMAX aspect ratio and Netflix content. If it's a regular 16:9 aspect ratio, you will see no blooming. Unless it’s like some extreme cases.
@Z4d0k2 жыл бұрын
What's far more important and something I wish I knew before buying the QN90B is the 120hz PWM backlight in most modes and whenever Picture Clarity settings are enabled (noise reduction and motion smoothing settings). This has made my QN90B unwatchable.
@BTheInstaller2 жыл бұрын
The QN90B had very little blooming period to where I didn't have to pick and choose how I said it. This 8k has more issues and that local dining high made it worse. I'll see if this work around is the answer

Great vid! Really feel that the pixel density just gimps the 65". Drops the brightness and resists the light transmission which worsens the halo effect... like shining a light through frosted glass. I believe it's why the 65" is only HDR 48x according to samsung. I also believe it's why they had Caleb look at the 75" and why you guys had different experiences. Would be awesome to get the actual brightness readings on all three sizes because the whole "we tested the 65 and expect the other models to perform similarly" rtings gives just isnt quite right with fald lcd tvs. Light transmission/pixel density def make a difference.

Dont know how Neo works compared to regular QLED, but i would love to see some darker scenes with subtitles on streaming with the upcoming review. I got the 2018 flagship from Samsung (Q9FN 65'') and subtitles ruins the whole immersion due the screen lighting up + DSE, getting real tired of it. My next TV will 100% be OLED. Wish they had something similar to the one connect box - being able to wall-mount without all the hassle is a dream.

Great unboxing video! Thanks for keeping it real regarding the firmware issue. I'm honestly surprised Samsung has not addressed this issue with the LED sets yet. It's been an issue for a few weeks now. My son-in-law has a 75" QN90B that i helped him put on his wall and it has the 1204 firmware. The picture exhibits the same issues you are showing here in this video. I really hope Samsung gets their act together soon. After VT had his review and Samsung was cheating. Who cares! All people want is a fantastic tv. They should have left their TVs alone and let them be bright and highlighted. This is an interesting video in an ironic way. Friday I was in a store and was awed by the QN900A, when I went in the store Saturday it was gone and the sales person said I was now looking at the QN900B. When I said it was out of my price range he laughed and said he could sell me the display of the QN900A they had just taken down. We calculated it had 3100hrs on it out of the 100,000 life expectancy, The price was reasonable for what it was. I am now seeing the comments on the "B" version and how much better it is than the "A" which I have just purchased. I am finding it alarming how people are refering to problems they say have been corrected on the "B" like local dimming etc. Whilst i bought because I liked the TV and price, I like it's 8k but didn't buy for that reason, I just wanted to avoid long term burn in from OLED'S. I'm now getting buyers remorse after seeing this and other vidio's, and wonder if the "A" is that big a deal after all?.
@takata982 жыл бұрын
@@ZzWeAreVenomzZ My apology, I evaluated so many models when purchasing I confused the models. I purchased the QN800A. I then saw this review which was where the confusion came in. Having now seen the newly introduced Samsung OLED I might have thought differently. But having purchased the QN800A at half the price and seeing the quality of the picture upgrade technology I do see a big difference in the quality of some apps I stream. Anything I stream in 4k or sometimes the 8 or 12k are stunning. The audio from the TV is superb for the thickness, though my preference is my surround sound. But the LG C3's were the line most recommended. I also have this wall mounted, it sits 3/16 off the wall 7/8 total when I used the One Connect box.
@takata982 жыл бұрын
@@ZzWeAreVenomzZ Congratulations! Once your truly set up and able to enjoy without tweaking to personalize you'll appreciate it more. I'll give you a quick tip... every time you put down the remote, place it buttons down other wise you'll learn fast it turns on but then your scratching your head as to why the images are frozen instead of navigable. Initially you curse the remote until used to it, but after a couple weeks you curse regular remotes because of all the buttons. If your going to wall mount and haven't got a mount yet I recommend Peerless Slim Line Universal SUF650P. For the 75" check the weight guide just to make sure the metal gauge is adequate. (Watch the supplied screws, they appear to long at first for the thickness but I discovered if I put the packing washer behind the 2 TV hangers they work fine without damage to the screen). There's some great 8 & 12K content on KZbin, I use these when I was tweaking the colour. I also find some of "Watched Walker" video's spectacularly insightful. Mine came so well packed I seriously doubted I'd find any damage on opening. Enjoy!

Has this issue occurred with yours? I am very seriously considering putting an order in for a qn900b 85" and im just worried something will not be right about it as the only positive reviews on the page are from what samsung call "incentivized reviews" also keep in mind I am a fan of Samsung TV's and currently have a Q90T. I have a qn900a that I bought late last year, it has noticeable banding that’s especially bad on a solid grey or navy blue screen so whenever I open prime video or KZbin, and less noticeable, but very annoying for the cost of the tv, in almost any panning scene. I returned And replaced several sets and it was this or a variation of this issue in all of them. Did you notice anything like this in this years model?
@mattjacoby64232 жыл бұрын
Is it time to switch to 8K? No, if you're determined to get a big enough screen to really justify 8K resolution it'll cost you a small fortune, even a TCL 65 inch (the smallest & cheapest 8K I'm currently seeing available) is averaging $2K. I'd also like to see OLED meld together with 8K. Both are hyped up, so merging them is just smart. Perhaps I'm overlooking an existing model or two, but I'm not seeing none currently. However that'll only drive the cost up further, BUT at least then you'll have the best of everything currently available and so for those who aren't too strapped for cash it's somewhat justifiable. Meanwhile, get a good brand 4K TV and make sure to research the specific model you're interested in and go that route. That would be my basic take and recommendation. Of course a considerable price drop on 8K models would help greatly, along with a broader selection of sizes (not everyone wants the jumbo tron TV) will edge me closer to favoring these, however that's years away.

The only hesitation on 8K for me, it that HDMI 2.1 limits 8K support to 30Hz without DSC. They say DSC is visually lossless, so maybe it is not a big deal. Even with DSC HDMI 2.1a is limited to 8K at 60Hz. For a TV 60Hz is pretty good, there are not many things that can drive 8K to 60fps anyway. Additionally very video content exists that is at 8K 60 or 8K 120. Personally I would use it to view high resolution (>48MP) still photographs and 8K 24p video that I create myself. Longer term (5+ years from now) though you will probably see 8K 120 become a thing, especially for gaming. Again, basically nothing would drive 8K gaming at 120fps right now, even a GeForce RTX 4090 can struggle to obtain 120fps in 4K with some games. I would say we are at least 5 years out from having graphics cards that could drive 8K 120 for games. By then I assume HDMI 2.2 or HDMI 3.0 would exist anyway, something capable of delivering 100gbps. For now this is pretty good and would suite my use cases stated above, so I would get it.
