One great found footage film that no one ever mentions is The Border Lands (aka Final Prayer). It's sort of found footage for people who don't like found footage. Thanks Marianna. Great list. I would add the crime mystery Searching. (But is that a web social media footage film?). Interestingly in my library I don't have section for 'found footage'. I tend to see found footage, J-Horror, K-Horror, Gothic horror etc as stylistic genre's rather than subject genres. I file everything by subject. So Blair Witch Project is a witch film. Cloverfield a creature film. Rec is a demon film. While Quarantine hangs out with the zombies and infection films. But all attempts at classification break down somewhere. But isn't organizing one's libraries a joy in itself?

Due to my interest in witch hysteria, BWP is automatically my favorite, but I've always felt like people don't give enough credit to the actors in that film. None of the viral marketing would've worked if we didn't believe they were normal, easy-going college kids who haphazardly got lost. It's a shame her performance continues to be mocked to this day.
