Arianna, nice video sharing your reasoning for getting the x-Ppro2. I also shoot this camera and value the rangefinder form finding it more discrete and less intrusive for street and travel photography. If you like the idea of "hiding" the LCD screen, you can do that by pressing the View Mode button and advancing to the Eye Sensor/Viewfinder only mode and the LCD screen will stay dark. The camera will also go to "sleep" after the eye is no longer at the viewfinder, and the timing of this can be set from 30 sec to several minutes in the menu. Yet, should you decide to take a peek at your last shot, you can always hit Playback and the LCD will light up for the review and then go dark again with a light touch on the shutter button. I often shoot this way as it comes close to the film experience. Hope this is helpful to you. Happy image making!

The xpro is also weather resistant, which for some is a big advantage. And btw, I LOVE my hidden screen on my Xpro3. I think reviews of a pure photography camera, made by vloggers, doesn’t really do the camera justice.

Great decision. The X-Pro2 has been my daily driver for almost 3 years. And the 35/f2 is an excellent all-around prime. (As an aside, I pre-ordered the 27/f2.8 R WR, deeply regretting that I sold a mk I version about a year ago. Perfect form factor on an X-Pro body.)

Hi, I've just sold all of my Old gear and now awaiting delivery of an XPro2, really undecided which lens or lenses to get. How do you find the 23 and 35 F2's please. Do you have any examples of shots you could share ?
@Arianna-zx1ro3 жыл бұрын
I don't own the 23 f/2 but I love the 35 f/2. It's equivalent to the "nifty fifty" and I find that it's awesome paired with the 10-24 wide angle lens. I typically have the 35 on my xpro2 and 90% of the time don't feel I need any wider so I personally don't feel the need to pick up the 23. I have a video coming out today that will include a handful of sample photos taken on my 35 f/2! Hope that helps - I'm sure you may have a preference based on your old gear and what focal length you shot with the most.

HELP! I bought a Fuji XT200 last year (October I think), my first camera ever, and I kinda want to upgrade now. Do you guys think it is worth it to sell the XT200 for 500$ and then invest them in a new camera? I've been considering the X-Pro2 (I love the looks and the view finder, by just looking at it I want to go out and take pictures) and the X-T3 (I think it has more space for me to grow into as a hobbyist photographer)
@Arianna-zx1ro3 жыл бұрын
I'm actually quite curious about this...I didn't realize how powerful the XT200 is because people hype up the X-Pro and X-T series! I do prefer both the weather sealing and dual card slots abilities of the X-Pro2, however, the fully articulating screen (game changer for filming KZbin videos and lots of photos in "unique" positions) and size/weight are huge benefits of the XT200 as well. I hope other people comment with suggestions because I personally don't have a recommendation but will now be looking into the XT200!

I've had my Pro2 for c. 3 years now and love it. For travelling (its, until recently, main use) I got the 16-55 - a bit of a beast but flexible and superb. I might add the 70-300 later this year although most of my shots are in the 16-30 range it may offer different shooting opportunities.
@Arianna-zx1ro3 жыл бұрын
I would be curious about the 70-300! I got the 90 over the 50-140 and 55-200 (video coming on that soon) so it leaves me open to the 70-300 for extra telephoto. I've heard wonderful things about the 16-55 so that's definitely on my list to consider down the road. Glad to hear you still love the xpro2 after 3 years...i have a feeling i might be the same too
@MartinHarvey3 жыл бұрын
@@Arianna-zx1ro Thanks for the swift response Arianna. I'll let you know how the 70-300 works if and when I get it. It looks like our next trip will be next Feb/March - and it will be a photo bonanza - Singapore, W Australia including the magical Monkley Mia, and taking the Indian-Pacific from Perth to Sydney and then visiting old friends in Sydney where we lived from 1992-94. If travel does open up sooner we might take a trip to Scotland or Newfoundland in the early fall. Then I'd get the 70-300. Previously, I was tempted by the 90 for telephoto but it's not much better than the 16-55 in reach and now we have the 70-300. I also have the 56 mainly for taking shots of my grandkids (when I see them :( ) and I'm always staggered by its sharpness. I use a Peak Design "sling" bag so it'll take the X-Pro2 and both lenses. I also use the PD strap and toggles (links) and one is attached to the camera base (tripod connection). This means I can easily carry the camera and 16-55 and it all sits nice and flat on my back rather than poking out as with conventional straps. Another option is if we go walking I just take the 70-300 and I could also easily take my beloved Ricoh GRIII for wide-angle shots. My current photography project is digitizing 47 years years of film! I digitized all the movies successfully with the help of proffesionals.but will do the prints/slides/negatives myself. Stay well.

@@MartinHarvey Incredible! Very jealous of your upcoming trip - it sounds like it's going to be a blast. You made a Great decision on the X-Pro2. I have owned and used countless different cameras in the last four decades from toy cameras to pro SLRs/DSLRs, medium and large format, and the X-Pro2 is my all time favorite camera that I still shoot since it came out, and I own six Fuji X bodies but I always grab this one if I want interchangeable lenses. It's also been a great professional shooter for me as well. I thought about upgrading to the X-Pro3 but after much self deliberating I found that with my shooting style, that the pulling down the hidden LCD would get old after a while, especially if you're on a paid shoot, and the extra 2mp and the one added film simulation would not be worth the cost. I totally get the design and intention of the X-Pro3 but the X-Pro2 is the same camera outside this features. You still get that same classic operation and if I ever want to hide my LCD I just turn it off with a couple taps of the View mode button. I found with the OVF/EVF that if I want to save battery I do the hybrid OVF setup where you are in OVF mode and if you need to check fine focus or exposure, you flip the mini corner display in the viewfinder if I'm shooting manual. That together with your LCD off will give you better battery life, Plus it then feels like you are using a film rangefinder type experience. There is so so much this camera can do that I have yet to explore. Adapting old manual lenses and some really nice third party art lenses is something this camera shines at... and if I ever downsize or try to sell off my fuji bodies I am definitely keeping this one. Have fun and enjoy your new Fuji. [edit] Oh I also suggest downloading FujiX Weekly app on your phone for film recipes to manually program into your Fuji if you want other film stocks than what Fujifilm give you natively. Right now I have some Kodak, Ilford and Agfa stocks loaded that I use to shoot back in the day. now many will not 100% translate on the X-Pro2 as the X-trans III processor is missing a couple color settings (some fine WB and color chroma I believe) that the newer processors have, but you can get pretty close
@Arianna-zx1ro3 жыл бұрын
First off - thank you soooo much for taking the time to write this comment! I absolutely appreciate it and for the advice on the battery because that was definitely one of the first things I've noticed. I also did notice that the FujiX Weekly recipes didn't translate directly to the X-Pro2 but they were super good to have a basis to tweak and build from. Your comment has made such a big impact on reenforcing my decision for choosing the X-Pro2 (which is so appreciated since it's not exactly a small purchase overall)!
@artsilva3 жыл бұрын
@@Arianna-zx1ro You are very welcome. Yeah, you'll discover little tricks that will make things more efficient just like any other camera. I think on the FujiX Weekly app, the paid version you can filter by X-Trans version or model, I have the free version so trying to find what totally works is a task but like you said a great base to start from at least. This camera will last forever I think and once you get that muscle memory down with the buttons and all it'll be second nature to you... don't you just love that solid but dampened shutter sound too?!

@@artsilva Yeah that's actually why I ended up deleting the app but just bookmarking the website - a little harder to use on the fly when you have just the free version. And the shutter sound is one of my favorite parts about the X-Pro2 for sure - so good!!

Yeah, good suggestion on the use of OVF. One other tip I have on battery usage is buy a small SD card pouch and thread it onto your camera strap. You can get these neoprene pouches that are designed to carry extra SD cards and/or small batteries. You thread your camera strap through the back of the small pouch and slide an extra battery into it. When my battery fails I have an extra in the pouch. When I get home I replace it with a newly charged battery and stick the spent one in the charger. (Orange dot up means fresh battery. Orange dot down, needs to be charged. I know, I'm OCD.) I can shoot the entire day without battery anxiety.

Nice video Arianna. I pre-ordered an X-Pro2 when it was first announced. I had seen it in a video by Lok Cheung from DRTV and really wanted to get one. After collecting it I found it was a terrific camera to use, especially for street photography here in London, England. Since then I have added an X-T2, X-T3 and X-T4 to my collection and love them all, especially the X-T4 but I still go out most weekends taking pictures and the camera I use most is the X-Pro2. It has such a lovely form factor and feels so nice in the hand. Also, it does not attract adverse reactions from people when I am taking their picture. In fact, many people stop and ask me about the camera after they initially mistake it for a classic film one. I use mine mostly with the 23mm f2 lens which has exactly the angle of view I prefer. I've been an Olympus fan for many years, used to owned many body such as epl7, em10mk3, pen f and em1mk2. But last week I've made a decision of switching to Fuji mainly because of the colours that Fuji produce and the looks of the camera. I've bought the xpro3 with dura black colour, it looks so cool and I love it. It makes me wanna take the camera out every time I go out, it's such a fun experience. I also bought many Fuji lens to suit the xpro3, 16mm2.8 , 23f2, 35f2, 50f2, 18-55 and 55-200. (The reason I bought that many lens so I can share with my girlfriend since she got the xs10) and my fav lens is 35f2. Its sharp, fast, compact and good distance for street photography. Hope you enjoy your xpro2!

@Arianna-zx1ro3 жыл бұрын
I actually overlooked IBIS when making my decision - probably because I took it for granted so much on the Olympus systems (or because I'm still very much an amateur haha). I typically shoot landscapes on a tripod or with a rather quick shutter speed when taking other photos handheld, so I haven't noticed anything too bad so far. That being said, I will definitely pay more attention to that in future photos since I do want to do a longer term review of the camera. Thank you for pointing this out!

It's only been about a month since I finally got into photography (mostly either time or money was the factor). I originally looked at the X-E1, X-E2, X-Pro1, and X-Pro2 since I like the rangefinder style design. My backups were the X-T1 and X-T2. Prices were always fluctuating and I found an X-T1 with 2 zoom lenses and a battery grip that was too good of a price to pass up. The package deal was pretty much the price of an X-E1/X-E2 body alone at the time of purchase. I couldn't have been more happy to get it to start my photography journey and learn about the Fuji system that I've occasionally looked at since they first switched to X-Trans. I'm still looking at the X-Pro2 every now and then but until then, I've gotten the three f2 primes so far and will sell the two zooms soon to fund the 16mm f2.8 mainly for indoor use to take of nieces and nephews running around, Sorry it got so long, I'm just enjoying photography so much these days and seeing the same kind of passion from others inspires me more, too. I shoot with the xh1 and the x100f... I’ve found that after a year of the x100f the focal length leaves something to be desired. How do you find the eye relief to be on the xpro2? I also wear glasses. I must say I usually have the 35mmf2 glued to my xh1.
@Arianna-zx1ro3 жыл бұрын
Ah nice! I think if I were to completely move to the Fuji system I'd go for the XH1. I can't say for sure since I don't wear glasses but I haven't had any issue so far (granted, I also haven't shot for long periods of time because it's been freezing here lately). Contrary to what I mentioned about the X-Pro3's hidden LCD display, I actually have been using the X-Pro2's LCD quite a bit so that may be easier than using the viewfinder. Hopefully that helps at least a little!
@mudgie0693 жыл бұрын
I had the Xpro2 but decided to keep the XT2 for one simple reason. When shooting with manual lenses, the XT2 has an option in the view finder to have a smaller main screen and then a small zoomed in section which is a massive help when manual focusing. As I shoot with lots of manual lenses and vintage lenses this by far the most useful function of the XT2 over the Xpro2. I have no idea why it wasn't on the Xpro2 but it was enough for me to keep the XT2 and sell the Xpro2. I also have an e-m10 mk IV which I love. Both Olympus and Fuji make wonderful cameras.
@Arianna-zx1ro3 жыл бұрын
oh wow never knew that! I haven't tried adapting older vintage lenses or using any fully manual lenses on my xpro2 (yet) so i'll have to see what that experience is like. usually if i want that I'll just shoot film. also loved the em10 mark II when i had it - huge fan of olympus here!

@@Arianna-zx1ro You can still punch in to zoom to manually focus but my old xpro 2 didn't have the viewfinder option to have the split screen in the viewfinder, larger part for main scene and then a punched in screen for manually focusing at the same time.

So I've gotten 2 bodies and 1 lens from MPB so far with another lens on the way. I always buy items that are either 'excellent' or above (usually settled on excellent for saving a few extra bucks. Great choice. I've been using an X-Pro2 for 4 years and it still delivers. It has a few niggling problems like the ease with which you can bump the diaopter and exposure compensation dial, but you'll learn to do a quick check of those before raising it to your eye, and rest can be done by feel. 35mm is still my most commonly used lens. I personally recommend people look at the 10-24mm as a follow-up depending upon the style of photography you enjoy. You can do a lot with just those two lenses. Have fun with it!

Funny enough - 10-24mm is the second lens I ordered for it (I have a first impressions video coming out about that lens this week). I agree that there are definitely little aspects of the camera that I'm getting used to, but like you said, it's been a great choice so far!

I've got the XT20 for about 3 years now, thinking of an upgrade, possibly to the XT3. But the X-pro series has always caught my eye and makes me want to try them out, I can't afford the expensive Xpro3, but getting the Xpro2 would mean sort of a downgrade since it came a year earlier than the xt20. I'm in a dilemma haha, what do you think?
@Arianna-zx1ro3 жыл бұрын
So I've never looked into the XT20 so I'm not sure about the specs but I do have some tidbits in terms of choosing a camera. 1. I'm never really too concerned about year released because I was shooting with a 16MP Olympus camera released in 2015 all the way until 2020 and honestly, didn't even realize how old it was or that it was only 16MP until I started looking into the upgrading 5 years later. 2. Mirrorless cameras in general are all incredible now if you're mostly sticking to posting photos via web. Unless you're printing (and usually larger prints too), I wouldn't be TOO concerned about MP especially if price is a factor in your decision! 3. It ultimately comes down to what you like and what you use your camera for. I've gotten some comments pointing out that the X-Pro series is exactly what it sounds like: a ~pro~ series. So definitely not a downgrade! But again, you have to determine what you want in a camera. I believe the XPro2 is the same sensor as the XT20 so can you give up the tilting screen? Do you like the ergonomics of the X-Pro2 and the rangefinder-style camera with the viewfinder off to the side? Which camera will you prefer to carry around more or would you be more comfortable using on shoots? I looked into the X-Pro2, XT3/4, and XH1 when determining which Fuji camera I wanted first. But the biggest factors for me personally were 1. price, 2. which camera would I want to carry around day to day (since an everyday carry was the type of camera I was looking for), and 3. which camera would I ultimately enjoy the most? They're all great cameras, released in different years and have different specs, but they were all far better than what I'd ever actually need for my photography! That was a super long answer and I'd be happy to expand - but I'd say if you have a gut feeling towards one of them, I would go with it (especially if you're not doing photography mostly for money/clients - then that may be a different decision haha).

there is a bit of difference between the X100 series and the X Pro series : interchangeable lens, and size The X100 can fit in a jacket pocket pretty easily, and it basicaly fits in my hand, it's a bit smaller than an X-E line of cameras from Fuji the X-Pro on the other hand is CHONKY AF for a rangefinder style camera, it is as heavy as some DSLRs, and definetly more than other fuji bodies, even high end ones like the X-T1/2/3 etc

I have been shooting since 1959 while serving in the Army. I used Nikon for over 40 years and it never let me down, but as I became older it became to heavy. I then went to m 4/3 using Panasonic and had a full set of lens but then moved to Fuji when my son bought into the Fuji System. I own the Pro 2, and have the 16mm f/2.8, 23 mm f/2.0, and the 35mm f/2.0. The 35mm is one of the best lens that I have ever owned. I did have a problem with my first copy and had to send it back to Fuji and they ended up replacing the original lens with a refurbished one (I said to do that). It turned out to be the sharpest lens in my kit. My next favorite is the 16mm f/2.8 which is supper fast to focus on the street, though you need to be standing very close to the subject. Hi Arianna, I think that was a smart choice. I used to immediately upgrade to the latest version cameras, but they've become so good now that there are often pro's and cons to 'upgrading'. None of the recent Fuji cameras have been convincing enough to make me change, as good as they are. As a user of all Fuji cameras, my favourites are the Xpro2 and X100 series. I looked at the Xpro3 and immediately bought another new Xpro2 while I still could. If you never use the optical viewfinder or the LCD during a shoot then your choice would be different. I switch between electonic and optical constantly and the loss of the optical viewfinder options on the '3' was not for me. Horses for courses I guess ;-)

I actually found that even with the smaller size of the Olympus, I never really took it with me as an everyday carry - the most I used it was taking it on all my hikes (which is still better than it sitting on my shelf!). Definitely one of the reasons I was so drawn to Fujifilm!

I just bought a used XE2s and am loving it too. My plan is to use it with vintage and manual focus lenses to slow down my photography and get that shooting film experience.

I was shooting with three X-Pro1 bodies. When I broke one of my three X-Pro1 bodies, instead of repairing it, I replaced it with an X-Pro2 body. Love the X-Pro2 body so much that if one of my remaining two X-Pro1 bodies breaks, I will replace it with another X-Pro2 body instead of an X-Pro3 body.
