Matt is it safe for a woman to use Finasteride? And how soon can you use it after transplant?
@letsgethair4 жыл бұрын
Hi Gabi. Hair transplant doesn´t have an impact on whether one can/can´t start with FInasteride. Normally you can use it independent of hair transplant. But it seems like the efficacy of oral Finasteride in FPHL as well as its consequences in child-bearing aged women are yet to be better evaluated. That´s why Fiansteride is not FDA approved to treat female pattern hair loss. Peronally, I wouldn´t suggest it for a woman unless you don´t want to have any more children. It has been shown that Finasteride can cause birth defects to the fetus so if you plan on using it as a woman, you need to take it with a contraceptive. Have you already tried Minoxidil 2%? If not, I would start with it first. It´s FDA approved medication for treating FPHL. There is also a possibility of topical Finasteride (in case you need to use it only on a small spot) - not FDA approved though.

@steviem52794 жыл бұрын
Once you filled in that crown area it made a a huge difference, the end results looks great. I know there are pros and cons to everything and being older, I won't cut my hair too short on the sides like the way you do but, my worry with the FUE is exact that, the possibility of it being over harvested and getting a patchy look, but then an FUT leaves a linear scar. Now if I do go ahead with a hair transplant my plan of action is an FUT first and then if I do need a second one then it will be an FUE.

Hey Matt. Very informative video. I think my hair situation is the same as yours. I went for the first transplant for the front hairline in Nov 2021 (2500ish grafts) and my mid scalp and crown is thinning so it is inevitable I will need a second one for those areas. I've been taking finasteride daily since November but the mid and crown is still thinning /shedding. The transplanted hair seems to be ok though. I tried minoxidil for a few months and I think it made scalp and crown thicker but it made my face puffy... And now I've shedded excessively. So i have accepted that I will eventually thin out those hairs, but hoping the finasteride will slow it down so that I can delay the second transplant Shashi

Igoris Thats an option in some cases. Doctors in the US don’t like to do surgeries that large at one time because the risk of complications goes up. But doctors in other countries will do some with that many grafts. It also depends on what you can live with. I was starting to feel really unhappy about my front hairline so I did that surgery first. I still need tons of hair fiber to make it all look good, but I feel better overall. The other surgeries will hopefully reduce my need for fibers and I can be more natural.
