"What's Your Problem?" is actually a psychological drama riddled with thematic elements and philosophical morals regarding the mental illness and existential crisis of modern man. The fish represents his sanity, which keeps slipping away just when he thinks he's finally got it back, and the disembodied voice is his conscious judging him for the life choices he made that led up to this point. If you want to get real deep, the green screen in the background represents the barren wasteland that is the inner machinations of his damaged mind. There is no concept of time or meaning in this self-perpetuating plane of existence. There is only him, the voice, and the fish.

Some Info on Chip the Black Boy: the puppet is actually identical to one David Liebe Hart used on his own Christian public access show. (You know, that guy who sometimes works with Tim & Eric). David named the puppet Chip the Black Boy actually, and claimed years later that Chip was stolen in a baggage claim or something. Whoever made the show “Chip the Black Boy” is either the person who stole it, or somehow got their hands on it.

My brother used to know these kids who started their own cable access show back in the '90's. It was called The Butter Show, and if you look hard enough, you can still find some episodes floating around the internet. One notable sketch was when one of the guys falls in love with a Mr. Potato Head. They go out on a date and end up in bed together. It was a really stupid show, but everyone thought it was amazing at the time. We also used to have this old angry atheist guy called Herb Nero who would take calls and proceed to get into insulting debates with everyone who disagreed with anything he said. It was kind of entertaining. You can find clips of his show around, too.

It's an awesome Lower East Side Public Access Show that was made by an awesome, legendary director/filmmaker from the late 70''s - 80's art scene. Shows like this I only discovered on the Internet as each Borough of NYC had its own separate Public Access Channels so being from Brooklyn meant I could only watch Manhattan shows if I had Manhattan Cable channels. Major Bummer. The campy nature of the show is by design, it's meant to be over the top and silly

I umm can relate to you..i pretty much do the same with exception of watching movies or playing old video games with my cat or on the phone and having my girlfreind here with us..espesially when she falls asleep..cuz than i just stay up all night watching stuff online..eventually falling asleep holding her or her holding me with my cat asleep on the bed or by the bedside. sometimes i will have my music on playing low with my City night lights on i got hung up in my room in the dark.its just a very nice feeling.very cozy and intimate,comforting.

chip the black boy began as a weird kind of comedy routine from david liebe hart, who’s mostly known for appearing a lot on earlier tim and eric episodes. chip is david’s “son” who’s actually a puppet apparently possessed by some kind of spirit or demon. there’s actually now two full albums that tell a story about how he came to be and what he actually is. the music is actually a collaboration between david liebe hart and an incredibly obscure rapper, and i don’t believe the two music videos in the video were actually shown on public access, but there definitely were some episodes of chip the black boy unrelated to the music

I was in a local public access comedy series when I was a kid. I think the local cable provider had some financial incentive to provide local programming, in the form of a grant or a tax break. I think that would go a long way to explaining how really bad content ended up on air. It didn't have to be good, it just had to be locally produced.
