Great video Tony! However I slightly disagree with the point about being too square. Only slightly because the balance is very important, but some of the greatest boxers used a more squared stance (like Tyson or Canelo). It has some flaws but also some advantages - it's very good for peek-a-boo style guard and it allows your lead hooks and uppercuts to be more powerful. But to use a squared stance you need to be very well balanced and advanced enough to understand how to use it. Sorry for my english, I hope you understood my comment. Greetings from Poland! Keep making videos because they are damn good!
@Tony_Jeffries4 жыл бұрын
Thanks for the message. Canelo doesn’t have a square stance mate. Tyson did it when he was slipping g
@cassiusclaypl21144 жыл бұрын
@@Tony_Jeffries Yeah U right. I meant not really a squared stance but more front facing. Canelo has his legs wide apart but his hips are facing forward. It's a weird combination but it worked very well for him. So he's not really fully squared but he's far more front-facing than let's say Floyd Mayweather.

Knowing your range takes practice for sure especially when you introduce a moving target. The key is your stance as mentioned in the video. I think dropping hands when you return your punch is one of the most dangerous and difficult to master. I still have to be mindful of it.

Hey Tony Tip #5 flicking your punches. “Strong fists” So I learned from a few coaches. To Improve speed. Be loose like you said. But clench your fists at the moment of impact. This was stemming from really sore forarms punching lol. Later I learned if you have a tight fist all the way through. You actually engage muscles in your arm that can pull your fist 20% back to the shoulder as you are punching forward. So especially with the double jab 1-1 you can have a loose 1-1 or a loose 1 - hard 1 for measuring, Just wanted to know what ya thought?

I have been watching older videos and they are super helpful. I am now only holding my breath during combos like half the time now. I am still working on it. Never realized I was doing that until your other video. This video made me realize that I drop my fist on combos on the second and third punches. Any advice on wrist pain after heavy bag work? I think I need to buy a bag for home (one at gym isn't soft), What brand/model bag and gloves are recommended? Do you have a sponsor yet? Anyway I love these videos and keep up the good work!

When I boxed in Catskill New York and was learning the peekaboo Style they taught us to stand more Square that way it gives you the ability to move in either direction at a moment's notice and also gives you power in both hands

Breathing. Breathing when throwing punches. You're probably using too much energy by not doing so. If you're holding your breath swinging away then it'll gas you out.
@benrago51954 жыл бұрын
Breath on offense, breathe on defense, breath when you’re moving around, know your gas tank. Try to match your opponents out put but also try to do just enough that you do more than your opponent. If he’s not punching, you don’t have to be punching, know how to pace yourself. Use that down time to rest and get ready to move in
