cats in general are very addictive! they show so much love and affection, all with different personality, likes and dislikes. and how they play!

Beautiful kitties! Do they like water? Mine played in and dumped his water dishes until I got a heavy steel fountain! Knots in his fur appeared overnite in his later years so lion cuts were needed. Groomer said he was an angel. Lost Tigaro at age 13 and will always miss his sweet chirp!

My sweet MC acts more like a dog than a cat sometimes. He's very affectionate, loves belly rubs, follows me everywhere I go, and sleeps on the foot of my bed. He actually eats less than my sleek little calico. And you are so right about the fur! Very high maintenance and it's EVERYWHERE! I have to run the vacuum every single day. He's worth it, though. ❤

This is so true! I just buried one of my MCC's--my big, sweet boy. 💔It's really hard getting over losing him--he was such a presence in my home and my heart! Believing I will see my boy again (Romans 8:21). They are the most magnificent of cats!

I am truly serious about getting a Maine Coon. I have loved & lived with cats all my life. I really love the fact they're called gentle giants. I also love the idea that they are somewhat dog-like. I lost my puppy to cancer and all of cats grew to be 17 - 19 yrs old. I am ecstatic that MCC live 15+ years. However I don't have $500 - $2200 to spend for a cat at this time. I am very sorry I didn't scoop up this MCC kitten when I first started looking at $300. I'm doing a lot of research so it was great to get your information. So far nothing has discouraged me😊

Please never buy a puppy or kitten because they are a “purebred” breed. There are thousands of kittens and older cats that are Maine coon mixes AND purebreds that need loving indoor only homes. Look for Maine coon rescues online in your area and beyond if necessary. Buy purchasing animals from breeders you are only perpetuating the cycle of misery and overpopulation of animals that will be killed in shelters across the US each year. And check out your local shelters. I have a large Maine Coon mix that I rescued from a high kill shelter and he is gorgeous and amazing and loves people plus other cats.

Hey Kim I think everyone who loves cats has to experience owning a Maine coon ..I worked for a cat breeder after working as a Lion sitter but that's another story.. Since 2000 we've shared our home with many Maine coos at the moment we have 12 awesome boys..8 are full Maine coons and 4 brothers half Himalayan half Maine coons. .. And we love them all so much.. Besides the point some of the things you say about Maine coons that they are annoying are what endears them to us..We live in the country with our 12 Maine coons all boys and our parrot Max and it's a very peaceful place..😻💙

1. Shed a lot 2. Act like toddlers for years 3. Eat a lot of food and they are very theatrical about it. 4. Talk a lot 5. Very loving 6. constant maintenance 7. Hard to find large enough things, Beds, toys, scratch towers, etc. 8. High EQ 9. How addiction they are.

Your cats are beautiful! It made me think of a Maine Coon I had. He was a big boy and I called him Bubba. This cat WOULD not let me brush him. Awful! I spent a week one time on staycation cutting fur mats out of his coat. I learned to start brushing as soon as you get a kitten! They actually grow to love being brushed.

I have a Maine Coon cat for 15 years; the steps 1-9 are right on. It's like having a dog rather than a cat. My cat, Heather, loves Temptation treats . . .. she does talk to me. I am a dog person, have a Maltese, but the cat steals my heart [and attention] all the time. Looking forward to more comments/video from you and your cat family.

Great things to know! We just reserved our very first "purebred" Black Smoke MC kitten a couple days ago and are super excited for pick up day! I didn't realize how far from origin standards they have gone but the place we selected is MCBFA certified to be 100% American standard MC, not the exaggerated Russian brokered variants so many are pushing now.

Really interesting facts about Maine Coons! Yeah, I'm sure the idea of a video came to your head while you were in the shower. It's amazing how that works, as your mind is at its clearest state during a shower. I have never forgotten how much of a beggar Hey was! During the human dinnertime, Hey would poke his head over the dinner table! It was so cute!! Overall, this was very informative!!!

They are so beautiful but I have to sweep daily but I don’t mind bc they’re incredible cats! Best cats I have ever had though. Love, love, love them!

I always love to see a new video from you all! ❤️ (I’m admittedly a little bit late!) 1:17: I had to laugh so much at point 1, because it’s so true! I’ve just crawled back out from under my desk where I’ve been tweezing away clumps of fur (and also my human hairs, to be fair!) from around the wheels of my desk chair! I literally took all the wheels off no more than 2 months ago to do a deep clean and I vacuum ALL the time (and I have a “DustMagnet” air purifier, which actually does a decent job at collecting some of the fluffy tumbleweeds… there’s just always more fur!), so I was really reluctant to do the whole thing *again*… but while I was filling up the wheely container for my cat litter I noticed *those* casters were also clagged with dust and fur, so after I sorted those I was on a roll (no pun intended!), and went to tackle the chair wheels too. Stupid time to do any of this though - it’s midnight and I’m literally using my iPhone torch for additional targeted light! 🤪 My fingertips now hurt from all the tweezing! I really *don’t* like how covered in fluff all my clothes and any kind of soft furnishings get (wearing black anything is always a nightmare, and there are certain fabrics that act as literal fluff magnets! And so often I’ll only notice my dark navy long wool coat (kept in a cupboard at all times! So it must just be from them brushing past me, or me brushing past other fluffy things 😼) has clumps of fluff on it when I get into the lift (elevator!) to go out of my building 🤦🏻♀️), but more to the point, how there’s somehow always fluff in my mouth, my eyes, up my nose, somehow tucked away inside the nose bridge of my glasses… 🤧 This might actually be one of my least favourite things about living with Maine Coons! (Poomageddon and assorted issues might just take the win though 🤢) And I can’t even say I didn’t know about it - I had two Persian cats growing up who had long and very fine hair, and it was maddening when it got all over my clothes and up my nose! Much more of a problem there was I was super allergic to them though, and very thankfully I continue to be mostly not-allergic to my MCs (it’s entirely possible/probable that I’m not even a little bit allergic to them, but I am still super allergic to dust, and their fluffy tumbleweeds about the place definitely encourage dust! 🤧) I’m going to go back and watch the rest of this now I’ve got this off my chest ☺️

I don't feed mine unlimited dry food since they just keep eating and fattening up... Instead i bought them an auto feeder which feeds them 4 times per day. Ever since i bought it they have not begged my ears off for food which honestly was a lifesaver! I do supplement them with wet food every couple of days and that is always quite funny since like you said as soon as they hear the can open they go WILD. It is a bit annoying when i open the door to the basement (where the wet food is) because they'll instantly be at my feet expecting food but i (barely manage to) say no. They do shed but its not crazy amounts... just a healthy amount. Most of the fur gets stuck on the carpet/couch so i clean like twice per week which is enough i believe... In regards to the knots/matting that has been a nightmare with my eldest! she's a bit overweight which makes her mat quicker i think? She had a lion cut last december which reset everything thankfully but now 10 months later all her fur is back and its a nightmare again... wish i could give her a lion cut every year but it requires anesthetic so for her health i can't :( They both ask so much attention these days its amazing (and a bit annoying)!

Hi, there! I love your channel! I've been catching up watching all the videos. I'm getting my first Maine Coons (and first cats!) In a couple of months, and I'm learning so much from your experience! I'm getting two brothers. I loved hearing about how you didn't even really like cats growing up, and you were a dog person, because that's exactly me! But I'm already in love with this breed with all of the research I've been doing, and I can't wait to learn more! And great tip about getting "dog things" for your kitties so it will be big enough. I'll definitely look into that!
