Yes, five years! I live inUK and have just discovered Prolotherapy by Oliver Eaton in Bedford. This is a form of Ozonetherapy which has been known for over a hundred years and used all over the world. P.S it’s not driving but twisting the knee when getting into the car. I learned to do a little jump!

I've been dealing with a meniscus tear for about five months. Too bad the bonehead therapist I went to didn't watch this video. He kept having me do squats and then had me work on getting up from a chair using only my legs. After seven weeks of his "therapy", I now have two bad knees instead of one. In my experience, good therapists are about as rare as unicorns.

I went to see a physio before mine had been scanned, few months after the tear who bent my leg and knee in directions a knee should never go, announced it had great flexibility and I left there with the exact pain I had after it tore all over. Had my tear year and a half now and was just told there’s multiple things wrong with your knee and that it’s physio, steroids and then keyhole if those don’t help enough and no guarantee the surgery will change a thing. I’m 27 so really don’t want knee surgery

Had scope in 2019 on right knee where they trimmed a small section, absolutely no regrets. It is as functional as it ever was, even for deep squatting and running. Had left one done 11 days ago. Just now starting to feel better. My therapy guy has me locking it out to stretch the muscles but it irritates it. So I'm going to stop that nonsense, thanks for putting that in your video. 1. Avoid twisting and pivoting. 2. Avoid breaststroke swimming. 3. Avoid using your foot to move things. 4. Avoid deep squats and sit to stand from deep chairs. 5. Avoid locking the knee out straight so the Meniscus will not be pinched. 6. Avoid sitting on your foot. Sit straight 7. Running. No shocking to the meniscus. 8. Driving long distances. 9. Full immobilization. The knee needs movement but not twisting. Walking is good.

This is extremely helpful. I torn my meniscus a year ago but didn't know what was wrong until I finally had an MRI a couple weeks ago. It's a small tear at the back and the doctors have advised that I should get a steroid injection. However I don't want to take that as it only treats the pain and doesn't help it heal. Another person has told me that the meniscus doesn't heal so now I'm conflicted. Does it heal and if so how long is the healing process usually
@ahmedjan35308 ай бұрын
Hi there. I’m also having a torn meniscus of grade 2. The research I’ve conducted (I myself is a doctor) and the Orthopaedic surgeons I have came across, told me to go through the physiotherapist exercises and get an MRI done after 6 months. It takes around 3 to 9 months to heal completely. Keep an eye on the aggravating factors. Grade 1 and 2 heal without a surgery, whereas grades 3 and 4 needs surgical intervention. I hope I have answered your query.

Very good recap. I actually have the problem myself. Rather funny as I am at the same time physiotherapist myself:-) But, this can happen to everybody. I do a lot of excercise with my clients next to therapies. We mostly straighten postural muscles and stretch, plus some breathing, but no running, no jumping, no high heartbeats stuff since my clients are 50-74 and originally with serious problems. Yet I got hurt, too. Probably too much knee stress on me beigh at the same time also hypermobile. Now I need to find a way how to heal and yet to still do excercise including legs full stretching. Oh, boy, long way ahead:-) What helps me: - using knee bandage, simple, yet tight, for sports and some more ours after. Keeps my knees "together" quite well - walking - walking backwatds - no crossing legs, no twisting, no long sitting on feet (only short stretching) - knee massage!!!! covering the area from slightly above the knee to almost to the feet, front and back. - no jumps, no forces like soccer, no kicking, no digging into soil Good luck to all❤

Hello! I hope you are doing well. I recently got my MRI results, and it mentioned a grade 3 tear at the posterior horn of the medial meniscus. The report also states that the ACL is not adequately seen. There's no joint effusion. I'm quite worried and hesitant about surgery. Can this be fixed through physiotherapy and a knee immobilizer? I really want to explore alternatives to surgery. Your insights would mean a lot to me during this challenging time. Thanks in advance for your help.

Hi thank you a lot for these insights. I am a dancer and I tore my meniscus three months ago, it has been getting better without me knowing that it was torn just by giving it time and doing strength exercises. However, three weeks ago I did an MRI because the clicking was still not gone and I was still not able to fully squat, so I found out it was torn. Last week it actually turned way worse after a training where I fully squatted a lot to get on the floor. So now that I know it’s the meniscus I am wondering what is meant with healing? Are those things that I should avoid for the rest of my life? If the cartilage does not grow together again, how will the pain actually disappear and the healing be completed? Best greets, Leo

Hi I absolutely love your videos. Everything is so well explained at a slow pace. Thank you I have a question: I have had a meniscus tear which is now maybe 95 % better after sone rest and some of your exercises. I am finding it difficult to decide at what point can I start playing pickleball again. If I waited until 100 % of the pain to be gone, I'd probably have to wait for 6 months!! I believe it was a grade 1 so took 2 1/2 weeks off and did exercises daily for for over a week. Any tips on how to know when my knee is ready to play sports again and I don't mind starting slowly to test it out but don't want to reinjure it. Thanks

Interesting, I hurt my knee getting up from the floor while sitting on my knee. Sharp pain but only returned in very rare instances over a few weeks. Played volleyball for a few league matches. no pain while playing, then tried to stand from the bench after finishing, wow was that achy and painful and happens more often now getting up from a chair. about 4 weeks in from original injury and will rest for another 4-6. I was doing full ROM leg presses pretty heavy with no pain or maybe a 1-2 out of ten which seems to be fine for tendon rehab, I guess not for meniscus. Will stop that now based on this advice. No catching, swelling or anything so I know this can be healed on it's own...
